I think that the newbies need xur. I mean he sold me my first exotic piece of armor +multiple weapons over the months. But honestly I can't help but feel a little disappointed that the kids who don't know/appreciate this game as much as us vets were already handed one of the best guns in the game. One of the funniest parts about this game (to me at least) was grinding nighfalls and VoG for the chance at getting exotics and I'm afraid that the newbies won't experience that.
