The US has an experimental ICBM defence system up. ICBMs and nuclear bombers aren't exactly fast. They're fairly easy to shoot down and disable in flight.
Nuclear war isn't as simple as 'push a button to destroy the world'.

And that's [i]just the US Military.[/i] Then think of the warheads Russia holds. And now I realize the conditions between US and Russia, I am speaking strictly on the fact that we have the power to end humanity.

I doubt that the US and Russia, were war to be declared, would launch all of their nukes in all directions. It would be done in the form of precise, coordinated strikes. Even in the event of nuclear war, most countries would likely emerge intact. Although, radiation and nuclear winter resulting from the destruction of population centres would affect the surviving nations for a very long time.
