You're too low of a level to even bother attempting VoG. When you get to Atheon, after being a guardian pinata, you won't do damage to anything and will be one shot by everything. So please, for your own sanity and that of a random 5 other people, get yourself at least to level 27 before attempting.

you need to be 26 first in order to be any help to your team. any less and you'll just get one-shotted by everything. Atheon will so much as fart in your direction and you'll explode, i promise you. it's not worth it bringing a 24 in. do yourself (and your potential team) a favor and buy yourself some legendary Vanguard gear. A full set of non-upgraded Vanguard gear will get you to 27 from the get-go, and that'll be more than enough to get you through Atheon with a good team teaching you the ropes. good luck! :3
