Fine, let's say my country doesn't owe me - which you're right, it doesn't. America is a land of opportunity, not immediate gratification - but if my country wants its citizens to succeed and have bountiful careers, build families, make money, keep an economy rolling, and basically improve its reputation by putting better stuff out (for me, I want to go into the film business) - then the last thing I want them to do is strip away the opportunities I've been given by getting a college education and eventually getting a career, a family, a home, etc. and put me overseas in a war I have no business being in.
In my eyes, that's just slowing me down from doing what I can to help the country, not speeding that process up.
