Because you wouldn't believe the messages from players I get asking where they can get it. And that is worth the horrendous look.
Also, consider the value of the item should it be discontinued, if you can get a full set of Queen's Guard gear that levels you to 31, but you can't obtain it through normal play means, what does that for value? It drives it up. Look at God Armor in Runescape, you can't obtain it through normal means anymore, so you have to buy it, and it's not cheap.

Edited by TuTone: 1/10/2015 5:49:45 PMI don't mean the look, I mean the light level is terrible. It became obsolete very quickly. Edit. Also, you say "value" like you can sell or trade the queens gear to other players. Which you can't.

Yes it is obsolete, but I enjoy the differentiation from other players, Destiny has so much to offer in terms of customization, but Bungie doesn't use at of it. I don't care if it's obsolete, I'm going to continue to use it. Also I talk value and demand because the base work is already in place for a trading system or even a player driven economy. The Bungie devs just don't seem to, or want to, see the practicality of this simple fact. They hide behind the walls of devaluation of items if trading occurs, yet Xūr is doing a mighty fine job of that in terms of exotics. The double standard is just wrong. People, noob and veteran, obviously notice the obsolete helmet and rifle I possess, which means it piqued their interest. That interest is what drives a game economy.

You're just hurting yourself in the long run though if you don't upgrade your helmet. Also in regards to trading, I think not implementing it was another way of Bungie trying to artificially extend the life of the game. It makes players play longer to hopefully get that gun or armor piece they really want. I could have full CE raid armor on my characters by now just by trading my unwanted exotics I have sitting in my vault, thus making me want to run the raid and play the game less until the next expansion.

I never said I didn't keep a set of fully upgraded gear for when I need it though. I have a set of fully upgraded gear to get me to 31, no full raid yet. Think of my obsolete helmet as ornamental armor, it still does it's job and I'm at 30 while wearing it, but for combat purposes, I switch to more current style gear. And yes it's a shame, remember when devs used to extend play time by making games more fun over time instead of putting it on life support to make them more addicting and less rewarding? Destiny has amazing structure, but it seems like the devs could care less, I have a feeling it's Activision being Activision as Bungie really out out some quality product with the Halo series.
