What is the current status of 343 Guilty Spark? Didn't he take control of an ONI ship in the Forerunner Trilogy? Where'd he go?

Didn't you kill Spark in halo 3? Right before you light the ring?

It would seem that way. But in the Forerunner trilogy a damaged 343 is being interrogated by ONI scientists. He then takes command of their ship to search for, I think, the Librarian.
