Xur goods

Someone clearfy something for me? I'm looking to buy the Hard Light auto gun of Xur today before he goes but I don't understand the requirements you need to by it for example I have the exotic shard and almost have the glimmer. But the other requirment is Hard Light I'm confused. Can someone help explain that requirement ?

You need to have the 300 attack version of hard light, and you'll basically be trading a 300 hard light for a 331 attack
