This was an amazing token of appreciation from bungie.. A LOT of people if not ALL guardians are forgetting that they DID NOT have to gift us anything! But... They did! And an amazing one at that! A legendary engram.. Very beneficial to the Christmas noobs, or a second character.. Even then if you didn't need it, dismantle it and move on.. But DO NOT sit here and complain and trash talk about the GIFT that was given to you.. Where's the appreciation? The humbleness? Where?
I myself didn't get anything in my postmaster when I checked via companion app but I hope I do get something because I will be the happiest with any legendary.

I see this now, it's a tough world full of pessimistic and negative unappreciative people. I can't even begin to think about how they act as human beings in the real world when they are given gifts.. "Here is isn't much but I know this anti freeze will come in handy during the winters for the car!" "Seriously you -insert paragraph long idiotic swear words- thanks for nothing my car is new" like it's not so hard to keep your mouth shut if you have nothing good to say and at that come one now.. Christmas? A day of giving and not receiving you COMPLAIN about receiving? I just can't wrap my head around their attitudes man!

That's the sad thing though, the majority of these people are nothing like it in real life. They see anonymity as a free pass to treat others like shit because of whatever issues they have in their life. It's a videogame people, chill the -blam!- out.

And yeah of course it doesn't affect bungie directly, I'm sure they don't really mind that some people are trash talking but it doesn't have an affect on how your fellow guardians portray you as a human being. They should have given out a random exotic to everyone, now that would have been an amazing token of appreciation. Bungie should know that people probably don't care about legendary stuff, but the simple fact that they actually gave us something is apparently good enough, which is why they could have given us anything. We could have been given 5 decoherent engrams and everyone would still be saying "at least we got something, they didn't have to". If I ran Bungie, I'd have given the exotics because I know everyone would love it.

Haha what you don't realize is that once you gave out the exotics the ungrateful bastards of this world are still going to be ungrateful. You'd see "OMG I CANT BELIEVE I GOT UNIVERSAL REMOTE WHEN HE GOT GJALLARHORN!!! WTF BUNGIE YOU ******* pieces of ****** blah blah blah complain complain complain". I'm so glad they didn't give out anything over-the-top amazing. Why? Because then people begin to show their true colors. These self entitled, extremely ungrateful, horrible excuse for human beings don't deserve anything decent.

This. People blew it all out of proportion on the forums, not Bungie. And you just know so many people would complain about already having that exotic or it's the worst possible exotic they could have gotten. There was no way for Bungie to win with this promotion.

I don't care about those people, I care about the fans of the game (as a head of Bungie). I'm not here to satisfy those ungrateful, elitist players, the point is people would have been glad to get an exotic. I think that outcome is better, the majority of people being happy because of the exotic holiday surprise compared to the majority of people being upset with some lackluster legendary. If the only con to giving away an exotic is the forums being flooded by the worst of gamers (which it already is) then I see no issue.

Obviously you do care (hypothetically as the head of bungie). You do because you're trying to "make more people happy" by giving out a better gift. You're contradicting yourself by saying you don't want to cater to anyone yet you want to please the masses or [i]majority[/i] of players with a better reward. My point is that this is a [b]gift[/b]. It is a token of appreciation. People who take a token of appreciation, spit on it and show nothing but disgust for whoever provided it, in my mind, don't deserve anything in the first place. I don't give a shit if the token of appreciation was just a note that said "Happy Holidays". It is Bungie telling us "thank you for playing". The lack of respect on these forums is appalling and goes to show exactly what is wrong with the world. And you, who says "a legendary isn't good enough, it should've been an Exotic" are just adding fuel to the fire. Perhaps without even realizing it. Which is just sad...

Okay, I'll use a different expression then. Those ungrateful, elitist players can deal with it. The same could be said for the people who are mad about the legendaries, but as you said, I'm trying to please the most people possible.

If they didn't give something, they would be disrespecting the player base. If they did, it wouldn't be good enough. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Maybe I don't feel bad for them but I certainly don't think they need this much grief over a free weapon.

To all feckers that say " they did not have to give you anything blablablabla" you are missing the point you pricks! What dafuq was it so so so feckin hard to just give is this "special" present for Christmas without saying anything at all?? I would have be super happy and humbled but,to announce it before the holidayd , to have us waiting till after the holidays just to get a wishy washy purple that I can buy is just BS!! 10 strange coins or 10 shards or maybe a shell for a ghost , an option for an exotic bounty , THOSE things would have be NICE.
