Did patrol (with bounties in tow) last night for 30 mins
1 legendary, countless greens and blues, 2000 glimmer
then 3 strikes 3000 glimmer, about 6 or 7 blues and legendary Leggings
Not that much of a grind if you know how to do it
and topped it off with a couple of crucible games
it took 2 hrs tops (and I ranked the Cryptarch in the process) and got a gold in public event whilst doing the patrol

To be completely fair that is very atypical. You could do patrols and strikes for an entire day and not get a single legendary just as easily.
