Not everyone holds on to their super for rez on the off chance that they die. About 95% of the time, I have fireborn on but take every chance I can to use my super and generate orbs. One of my favourites is when I'm in the centre for confluxes on VoG - when legions are summoned, it's a great opportunity to generate as many orbs as possible for my team so that they can do the same and we can all keep that going. And I don't have to rely on spamming grenades - any kill that I get with radiance on gives me orbs, so rocket launchers also become your friend when radiance is active. I think that the super should be used (in reason) whenever it's available. Otherwise, if it so happens that my super is charged and I die, why wouldn't I want to rez? I don't see that overall play style as a crutch, since we all die at some point. I do agree with you 100% that it is selfish and pointless to only use your super for self rez - I imagine that it would also be pretty boring.
