Why hide against the legions? Why not just kill them?
As for the confluxes, there are better options than waiting for other people to die or risking death yourself. Radiant Skin will allow you to rush to their defense with minimal risk - and you'll be more effective when you're there.

Because hiding is a better option since it minimizes the risk of someone dying (and not being revivable on hard mode) once people are hidden. Not like we have to kill legions anyway. And to the second point, I'm taking a major shit hits the fan moment. Swarm of baddies, teammate's down, and you're injured. The armor boost will only go so far.
