Warlock self-res is a crutch for the weak.
Seriously.
What use is it outside of PvP?
That's right - people who struggle to stay alive can have a second chance at dying again. Give me a Warlock whose build is based around staying alive any day of the week. A Warlock using self-res is basically waiting to die. They're holding the rest of the team back. They don't generate orbs unless they die. They don't activate supers unless they die. They're basically a drain on DPS and team strategy/cohesion. If you're a Warlock with self-res, you're letting your team-mates down.
When recruiting for Raids, I ask people if they use self-res and then turn them down if they say yes. I want my Warlocks to be team-players, not people concerned only about themselves.
It's not really any use in PvP either.
Edit: apologies if I've stopped replying to someone in particular, this forum makes it impossible to look through everything and keep up with every conversation.
Edit 2: Next week on Ackter Provokes: The Gjallarhorn and how if it was suddenly removed, 99% of players would no longer be able to beat anything!

Obviously you have played with some people who pissed you off. Otherwise you wouldnt have bothered with this thread. Im a warlock who does put on self res when it is needed. There are a few situations that ill explain. 1) Crota Raid Traversing the Abyss: If your group, including yourself, have trouble staying alive on the bridge pad a self revive might be your saving grace. A warlock and titan unlike a hunter have supers, nova bomb and fist of havoc which do not last longer than 8 seconds. This makes the self revive a long term back up used to "possibly" save a team in a situation where a teams fire power or teamwork fails. 2) Vault of Glass (majority of raid): Running with a team that has insufficient fire power, or experience, can put a lot of pressure on players. Sometimes it gets the better of you as you attempt to bite off more than is possible. Sometimes youre forced to carry a team in situations that no class using any super will last to the end. This gives a warlock an interesting choice. Use self revive and stay alive while completing your object, or run a super like nova or radiant skin etc and hope to pull it off. So while one could argue a team might last longer with a warlock creating orbs, most experienced warlocks are actually planning for the worst. Warlocks who die a lot, or you could just say are playing more casually, should use it so we can keep them in the game.
