Warlock self-res is a crutch for the weak.

Warlock self-res is a crutch for the weak. Seriously. What use is it outside of PvP? That's right - people who struggle to stay alive can have a second chance at dying again. Give me a Warlock whose build is based around staying alive any day of the week. A Warlock using self-res is basically waiting to die. They're holding the rest of the team back. They don't generate orbs unless they die. They don't activate supers unless they die. They're basically a drain on DPS and team strategy/cohesion. If you're a Warlock with self-res, you're letting your team-mates down. When recruiting for Raids, I ask people if they use self-res and then turn them down if they say yes. I want my Warlocks to be team-players, not people concerned only about themselves.
It's not really any use in PvP either.
Edit: apologies if I've stopped replying to someone in particular, this forum makes it impossible to look through everything and keep up with every conversation. Edit 2: Next week on Ackter Provokes: The Gjallarhorn and how if it was suddenly removed, 99% of players would no longer be able to beat anything!

  • It's funny that you use teamwork as a point against a Warlock with self-res, when you obviously don't know the first thing about it.

  • I barely use my self-resurrection unless..... A. I'm being put in a ungodly scenario involving fallen teammates surrounded by high level mobs &/or bosses (high chance I wouldn't even need to use it) B. If I threw my 2 grenades & my cool down isn't cooling down quick enough (I become Nolan Ryan) C. If a hunter &/or titan goes down trying to pick me up (for some odd reason I was down) I'll self-resurrect, I'll remember the shit that was spewed about the self-resurrection being a crutch, look at their orbs, do a lil dance then just walk away & solo it until their spawn timer allows them to even come back. Every class has a special that is considered a "crutch".
ME-*guardian down* -blam!- !...Hey man pick me up when you get a chance OTHER-I'm on my way *guardian down* damn my fault dude. Man we gotta start from the beginning again ? ME-Nah man no worries *fireborn*
• Depends how u play it!!! I use the sunsinger for raids and nightfall, i do use my super alot and only rely on self res if were outnumbered, with self res i can jump in the middle and take the heat while the rest of my team heal up or get the kills!!!! It pisses me off when locks just save theyre super in case they die, gotta use it, u can create alot of orbs as sunsinger which helps the team out alot!

  • You gloss over the fact that it allows us to sacrifice ourselves when a teammate is about to go down. Can't count the times I have stepped in front of enemy fire for someone on my team

    • I use self res when I might be required to put myself at risk. I find it as a really good team role. There have been countless times where I have needed to defend both middle and help with left or right confluxes in vog and it means that I can put myself at risk for the better of the team. Also, self res warlocks are the best to carry any relic. You are getting smashed by really hectic enemies. If you drop the relic someone needs to leave their post. If I have self res, no one needs to worry. Can you honestly say that self res would not have helped you out at any stage? I call rubbish if you this that it is never needed and that you can go through every raid with out ever having to wipe. It is useless in crucible though, I will give you that. Void walker all the way in pvp.

        • Let's see I use mine before I die and generate about 6-9 orbs for my fire team all the time. And when my team sucks I save it for when they die and I'm trying to revive them, once they are revived I activate my super and spawn some orbs. Maybe you just need to get your stuff together. Ever think that they are not using their supers because you die so much they feel that they are gonna be left alone against the darkness.

In terms of orbs I see your point, but having more rounds down range is just as effective as gathering orbs.

        • Weak people sometimes need crutches, no-one raises an eyebrow when someone walks down the street with one.

" Give me a Warlock whose build is based around staying alive any day of the week." You realize we're talking about 1 option out of 3 here as far as Sun Singer goes right? I wouldn't really call that basing the build around anything. In fact its really 1 out of 2 if you think about it since Radiant skin would just enable you to possibly survive and if you don't you're dead anyway so why not just use Fireborn to get back up? As for the third option I seriously doubt a shinning golden god such as yourself would get much use out of merely having your cool downs reduces if you happened to be in range of Song of Flame.

              • Having self res allows a Warlock to play much more aggressively, in a similar way you can do with a Titan Defender. You can pop your super to get you out of trouble to a certain degree. In tougher situations sometimes death happens. You're on 3rd stage hard confluxes and 2 hobs shoot you within a second of each other or the templar goes nuts when you have the relic. If you have res you use it, finish the stage, if you are running voidwalker you effectively wipe. It'll be immense when the Crota hard raid comes. Your argument has little bearing when talking about generating orbs as well. Hunters don't generate enough to be useful, and neither does the Titan defender bubble which is the most useful Titan ability. In fact the Hunter's supers aren't really worth much in PvE at all. If you run a nightfall or a hard raid with a Warlock without res then you're an idiot. Plain and simple. And you're REALLY letting your team down.

                • Lol. We warlocks don't die all that often. We are the front runners relying on our weapons and not supers. I use my super if the whole team wipes or just whenever since I get it back so fast. We play aggressively and get much more kills in general than the other classes. I suppose the warlocks you have been playing with have been doing it wrong. Lol.

                    • It's definitely a crutch but it doesn't have to be just for the weak, in this case the word crutch is a bad example because even capable people can make good use of it. And any time there's a whole bunch of Orbs on the ground it only makes sense for a Warlock to use their super and generate some orbs of their own, any Warlock that doesn't do this isn't doing as much as they could/should. It's impossible to deny though that the power lends itself to people who die more, and so you're more likely to have people who suck be a Warlock than any other class.
