Seriously.
What use is it outside of PvP?
That's right - people who struggle to stay alive can have a second chance at dying again. Give me a Warlock whose build is based around staying alive any day of the week. A Warlock using self-res is basically waiting to die. They're holding the rest of the team back. They don't generate orbs unless they die. They don't activate supers unless they die. They're basically a drain on DPS and team strategy/cohesion. If you're a Warlock with self-res, [i]you're letting your team-mates down[/i].
When recruiting for Raids, I ask people if they use self-res and then turn them down if they say yes. I want my Warlocks to be team-players, not people concerned only about themselves.

Edit 2: Next week on Ackter Provokes: The Gjallarhorn and how if it was suddenly removed, 99% of players would no longer be able to beat anything!

1 ReplyI have 2 warlocks. 1 is sunsinger one is void walker . One has heat of praxic fire one has obsidian mind. Your argument is bull shit. Period. My grenades and melee both drop orbs. Also I don't hold self res for myself, EVER. I hold is for others so when the go half way across the map and die where they shouldn't I don't have to spend 10 minutes clearing shot out to be able to reach them. If involving with a team that has half a brain I burn my super every time I get the chance. With heart of praxic fire I can make the whole area light up. 14 grenades in a row, who the hell would not want to use it. Stop being a freeloader and we'll stop holding our supers. Ktb.

Extra life has saved me sooooooooo much time soloing NF's and strikes. No matter how good you are (unless you sit in a glitch spot every level), you will die by BS like a random shot from a skiff or two sequential melees with lightswitch on or something, Go die and redo the checkpoint over and over. LOL!

1 ReplyI've used self res as a backup for the nightfall and only use it if the team is about to wipe. If I happen to die and my teammates can get me I don't use it. It's more of a break glass in case of emergency tool for me. That being said, I've gone many nightfalls without using my super at all. So yes, it can be a crutch but it can also be a team saver. Chances are you've been saved by a self res warlock before so I don't understand your hostility

1 ReplyReally. Warlocks would love to have more damage resistance or buffing the team. But we are forced into self res because all you up dying and not covering your part. This makes us die from being overwhelmed. So have to revive ourselves and you so we don't fail. Self res if a crutch for the whole team if anything.

I don't use it or like it. Not against others using it though, it's upto them. Wouldn't call them a hindrance if they choose to use it.

Every part of this game is beatable with any class/subclass and perk combination. Some classes benefit more in areas but it is all beatable by anyone.

8 RepliesMy main is a warlock, I prefer void walker for nearly anything, except where I need the Rez to help my team, if I run the relic in vog I use Rez so I can solo gatekeeper portals and in case of glitches it prevents wipes. For the entirety of the crota raid I use void walker, being able to blink away with the sword is nice and dying in that case spawns an oversoul anyways. You can easily tell if a person is skilled or unskilled by other means that what they use as a class setup, it's just an ignorant statement to assume anyone who uses Rez is a bad player.

IMO PvE, in particular, weekly nightfall is the only place fireborn (self res) should be used. If someone is playing PvP with anything but radiant skin they are doing it wrong. I can't count how many times I have killed a warlock, hear and see him starting to res and kill him again before the animation has ended. Not sure why people use it honestly its not as if it erases your death or anything. Maybe in 3 v 3 it could be useful but not the other modes. When I use it in nightfall I don't use it completely passively and wait to die, but I do wait until my fire team has generated orbs before I use my super. Then once I use it I can get another immediately by picking up their orbs, then I will wait until they generate more use my super again for maximum dps You don't have to die to use your super when equipped with fire born. In nightfall I just want to make sure I have a super ready the majority of the time to avoid a wipe. PvE outside of nightfall if I run sun singer I use radiant skin.

So what you are saying is you fail without the use of your supers? Everytime I run VOG Hard, all our warlocks hold onto their self respect just in case crazy shit happens. Granted we can VOG but this Bungie we are talking about, crazy shit happens. My teams warlocks have no trouble dishing out DPS, they get tons of kills, and are extremely useful. And let's not talk about how handy that self res is on a Nightfall where the burn is the same as bosses element. Talking to you arc burn Omnigul. Also, a self respect build for a warlock allows you to run high DIS and STR for more melee and nades. Allow me to equip my claws and have double scorch, and double nades with extreme cooldown. (My buddies build, not mine). Before you start trashing people for their playstyle, learn how to build a character, and play off your test strength. If supers are tour go to strategy, you aren't going to last long.
