Warlock self-res is a crutch for the weak.
Seriously.
What use is it outside of PvP?
That's right - people who struggle to stay alive can have a second chance at dying again. Give me a Warlock whose build is based around staying alive any day of the week. A Warlock using self-res is basically waiting to die. They're holding the rest of the team back. They don't generate orbs unless they die. They don't activate supers unless they die. They're basically a drain on DPS and team strategy/cohesion. If you're a Warlock with self-res, you're letting your team-mates down.
When recruiting for Raids, I ask people if they use self-res and then turn them down if they say yes. I want my Warlocks to be team-players, not people concerned only about themselves.
It's not really any use in PvP either.
Edit: apologies if I've stopped replying to someone in particular, this forum makes it impossible to look through everything and keep up with every conversation.
Edit 2: Next week on Ackter Provokes: The Gjallarhorn and how if it was suddenly removed, 99% of players would no longer be able to beat anything!

First off. In order to gain the most potential out your warlock you must think like one.. Yea they may not be as strong as the other classes-but they play a good part. My teammates know that.. If im in v.w. mode im more proned for combat than self preservation.. if set up right..your recovery is naturally high..point blank. I like to set it up for high armor and recovery..NOW. WITH FINE TUNING IF YOUR NOVABOMBS AND ETC.. you can deal great damage..mosy don't expect a warlock-er to attack like hunters/titans...you expect them to hang in back...and what..just...toss grenades?-no...factor in the use of a good melee strategy..and go for nova bomb cool down versus energy drain..and ta daaa. Nowz im aware of my level and have more to learn..( please dont remind ne if thy gear and stats...i mean i am aware #clearly ) but i.will.be dayumed if i let you assume i am worthless...because of what character i choose.. if thats the case i can assume you suck because you may/or may not lack the Imaginativemind to pilot the warlock-ers I digress.. Now sunsinger is awesome'ish too #fordifferentreasonsthanvoidwalker ...because it pisses.your.enemies.off. self res to me is a second chance to fight. If my team needs more help with cooldowns for supers and grenades..then i have that ability..if i need to get in there and do damage the...leggo v.w. and blink-bishsmack(if you survive that melee)-blink-blink-novalikeboom lol j.k. I feel you are just a little..irritatedOrsalty that you cannot fully use your mental capacity to the best of its abilities-to actually comprehend what SKILL..TALENT..AND PATIENCE IT TAKES..TO BE A WAR-LOCK. But hey..#PERHAPS i am misguided by your theory.. Hmph

Muted and Reported.

Its funny that people hate on self res. I guarantee that a warlock self res has saved everys a as at one time or another, especially in the nightfall. And if anyone says no self res has saved I then we know who the liners are.
-
We don't care about your opinion on how you play your Warlock, if I want to hold my self-rez for if I die, I certanly will.
-
Muted.
-
It has strategic uses
-
You sir, are an idiot.
-
This class hate is so sad. Is there seriously nothing more important in life than having a better build than someone in a videogame?

Edited by DarkRyok: 1/6/2015 2:30:36 PMEdit-took out my pvp part, because I didn't see your spoiler. VoG and Nightfalls it is helpful, because stuff does happen and mistakes do get made. I'm all for Radiant skin and Voidwalker, but fireborn has its place. It becomes an issue when Warlocks rely on it and continually die thinking they can rez, and it makes them a terrible player because they don't care aboit death.
-
My friend dies all the time In nightfall and such so when he got self res he made my life 30x easier
-
Your highest raid KD is an 8. Mines 9 with a "crutch". UbadBecauseUmad
-
I use Song of Flame or Radiant Skin when I am raiding. I use Fireborn for Nightfalls. Big booty bîtches love fire.
-
Edited by Cirocband: 1/6/2015 2:36:42 PMWell personally I play as a void walker unless it's a hard raid or nightfall, I use sunsinger, which I dread because I love my nova bombs. However it comes in handy. Just because you have fireborn doesn't mean you prepare to die, I've been in instances where I never used the the firstborn. And if I want to generate orbs I just activate the supercharge, no big deal. But for you to exclude someone because of their supercharge is bs. You probably only play with Titans who use the bubble, and hunters who only use gunslinger too. Smh. Every class has its strengths and weaknesses, even though I play a void walker because it's my choice and I play the game for me and no one else. There have been instances where I died and couldn't res because I didn't have it, and the team was jeopardized. Honestly you just sound like a hater, and that's not cool.

It's blaming terrible for Pvp what ru talking about
-
Rofl what a fukchead
-
Fireborn looks cool in pvp as i run around sticking people with grenades and laughing maniacally, i don't wait until i die i use it right away. I avoid crucible though so i prefer fireborn during strikes and nightfalls when i'm helping friends and their alt characters. But void walkers with lance/bloom make me smile as things explode everywhere. But your claim that self res is a crutch is as valid as a saying a titan bubble is a crutch for players that don't know how to use cover and avoid getting shot.
-
Some stupid hunter is mad jelly
-
Don't generate orbs? Argument is invalid, I generate orbs with hive headshots. Just as many as a bitch hunter does with his one orb per kill on golden gun. Don't help my team out? You've obviously never done a hard raid before. Use it as a crutch? No. As a back up plan? Yes. My raid team still gets the hidden chest in VoG from me and another WARLOCK down there blocking the templars teleports. Wanna know what happens if a hunter or titan were in my position? They would die, miserably. A defender titan may block it once with their shield, but not enough to stop all teleports. Your argument is invalid. Don't try to hate on other classes because you're trash.
-
I use my self-rez as a tank option. If somebody is down and needs a revive and it's too dangerous for a standard player to run in, I can comfortably run in, rez them, and not care if I bite the dust as well because I can just rez back.
-
Nightfall boss fights it's a Plan C
-
I run voidwalker all the time except for 3 occasions: 1. Running the nightfall 2. Hard mode raid 3. Trying to complete a bounty that requires me or is easier to play as sunsinger (kill 20 guardians with grenads, Kill enemies with with solar or arc abilities). Seems pointless the rest of the time to sit on a super you may never use.
-
Then the titan bubble are a crutch as well as hunters invisibility
-
*yawn
-
Edited by Kuronak: 1/6/2015 1:45:13 PMAnd Titans who are about to die place down their shield as a crutch while Hunters go invisible as a minor crutch (they don't have an obvious one) so no, we aren't the only ones with this "crutch" if you can even call it that. Since I prefer to play reckless I use it when I get a bit overzealous.
-
Edited by DannyPG: 1/6/2015 1:47:00 PMSo tell me this, what if the whole team wipes in a strike or raid, then the sunsinger self revives, and runs around to save his teammates? Would you still consider them weak? This has personally happened to me before and I can not thank that warlock enough. It is not a crutch, it is an ability that can have some great use. Sure, people have gotten a little careless because of the second life, but at the same time, there are so many situations where that self revive can be the difference between a wipe or defeating a boss. Leave them alone. This is coming from a Hunter by the way.

It's good life line when you can't die like for NF, but I prefer void personally
