Seriously.
What use is it outside of PvP?
That's right - people who struggle to stay alive can have a second chance at dying again. Give me a Warlock whose build is based around staying alive any day of the week. A Warlock using self-res is basically waiting to die. They're holding the rest of the team back. They don't generate orbs unless they die. They don't activate supers unless they die. They're basically a drain on DPS and team strategy/cohesion. If you're a Warlock with self-res, [i]you're letting your team-mates down[/i].
When recruiting for Raids, I ask people if they use self-res and then turn them down if they say yes. I want my Warlocks to be team-players, not people concerned only about themselves.

7 RepliesSo, you're labeling every Warlock in the game that uses self res as a bad player? I'm sorry but, you're being completely and utterly bias. Not every Warlock is a bad player. Example, myself. In fact, the majority of raid groups want Warlocks. There are easier ways to actually getting around a level with the Warlock's self res ability. Such as getting 'rid of the de buff in the Crota's End raid titled, "Presence of Crota". Which by the way if you didn't know, helped the team out as a whole. Also, the oracles, if everyone wants to stay at the top. Whether you consider cheesing bad or not, Warlocks have more use than any other class, Titans being the second most useful with their Weapons of Light shield. Now, if you want to talk about bad classes that have no use in raids, even in PvE as a whole, let's talk Hunters... They still have no use in the new raid besides running to the chest after the bridge. Even then, a Warlock can easily do what the Hunter does. I'm not making this into a rant, however, I'd love for you and people like you to stop bitching and taking down the majority of the community, yes, Warlocks are the most played as. One more thing, stop being biased. Did a Warlock shit on you or something?

1 ReplyRunning a team on nightfall. Dude saved our asses TWICE. A lot of selfressers do play as lone wolves, but not all. If its a crutch, it's a crutch for the whole team. I don't usually self res(I like cooldown reduction, but thats just me), but I have no prob with it; like nearly everything in this game, it can be useful if used right

Obviously someone has never gotten a boss to a sliver of health just to have something go wrong. I for one keep my Fireborn active only if I feel it's needed. If we have another Warlock with it I switch to Song of Flame. Then I activate and call out "Grenades for everybody! He gets a grenade. She gets a grenade. You get a grenade." Oprah Winfrey style. Never underestimate the power of three guardians tossing 'nades every other second.

I don't wait to die to use my super. I use it when there's a huge wave of enemies coming. So every kill I get produces at least an orb, hens forth producing at least 8 orbs every time.

And I've mentioned this the past couple of months. The way a lot of people cry and moan on here about weapons being OP, or how bad it is to use so called "cheats" in certain situations, I've said to just go ahead and eliminate all super's, eliminate the second and eventually third sub-class, eliminate most all of the weapons. Because guess what, the end result would be just a simple little shooter from back in the 70's. I guess that's what a lot of you want. I guess I can't use my Hunter's golden guns or my blades, ever. Not!!!!! Bungie gave us these abilities to "use", so while we still have them, use them, because the end result in all this crying and moaning will be the day when we don't have any of them. Cheers

I'm willing to bet a million space bucks you don't have your sunsinger subclass leveled at all and this is YOUR crutch excuse thread to keep being that 1 guy in the raid that is too lazy to be an actual team player. I dare you to show your sunsinger spec.

Funny you rant about this without even knowing a main point. Radiant skin is bugged. When in sun singer special damage is halved and while using radiant skin damage is also halved. Using the song of flame is a waste also because for one, does nothing to the warlock, two will maybe let everyone else get one extra grenade out. Not that big of a deal. Learn some details before starting this bs. Just because self res isn't useful in a main part of a new raid doesn't give people the right to bash it.

So, are you just now realizing that not every weapons, spec, ability ect.. is usefull and needed 100% of the time? Same reason why they added duel spec in World of Warcraft years ago, some specs are great for some encounters while they suck in others. Just how it is. Which is also why there are two specs to choose from. Sometimes it's better that someone can self res if they die as having said person alive doing damage is better than a dead guy doing nothing. It all depends on the situation, not to mention that warlocks spec has benefits for the entire raid which DOES help.

Gunslingers aren't nearly as useful on Crota's End. Is it fair to kick a good player simply because they don't want or like to play as an invisible Bladedancer? We avoided many wipes on the Vault of Glass because the relic holder had Radiance available whenever the Minotaur on the portal decided to run up the stairs or had a bug. We found it's much better to have a self-res warlock be the swordbearer on Crota so that no one would die trying to save them in case the team missed the timing, and trigger yet another Oversoul. Don't impose your playstyle on others. Be respectful. Many good players use Fireborn as a backup, especially on the hard raid or a Nightfall. You may have met terrible players, I also have, but that does [i]not[/i] give you the right to bash anyone.

My buddy uses his self res to great gain in PvE, so its not a crutch for the weak, as you put it. If we only have 2 for the Weekly Heroic or Nightfall, we use it. We haven't done any raids, but I'd imagine it would come in handy there as well. It's one sixth of a team so does it matter that much!? Cheers

Theres this sweet thing called cooldown reduction that needs to talk to you. Saved my team many a times when we would bring derps into the vog and they would shoot the Hobos before I could smash them. And let me tell you about those orbs yo. Remember those Douche canoes we call the Fanatics? Can you guess what class loves to pop their super and rain AoE nades down on them? It also depends on your group. I play with 3-4 titans. If a titan is failing to generate orbs so I can super charge in about 10 seconds they're probably not at their controller.

2 RepliesI've prevented several accidental wipes with it. Sure, you're not popping your super to do damage whenever it's up, but having to restart a nightfall or wiping on a boss at low health is worse. When you're doing a raid how many blade dancers and strikers do you see spamming their supers on bosses? None. They use them on trash to generate orbs for who? Sunsingers and defenders. Defenders can get their supers really quick so it's not entirely necessary. I just don't think you have a clue what you're talking about and are butthurt because you don't have it.

wouldnt be more helpful if you use something that supports the other players like song of flame or something? ive read the comments below and all sunsingers said that they are a support class. wouldnt it be more supportive to use your super while everyone is alive, using song of flame. and not while everyone else is dead (wiping) then self rezing?

Its actually wonderful when a warlock uses self res in pvp. Kill them once, wait for respawn and smash their face in again. Its almost as good a feeling as taking out a bladedancer.

Using self res actually is a huge help for the team. If you die in a bad spot you can self res so a teammate doesn't have to come get you. I've used mine several times to go on a suicide run to go pick up a teammate knowing I will most likely die, but can pick myself back up and get back to safety. I've also used it for suicide runs against bosses that are on their last leg, like -blam!- it I got this.
