Warlock self-res is a crutch for the weak.

Warlock self-res is a crutch for the weak. Seriously. What use is it outside of PvP? That's right - people who struggle to stay alive can have a second chance at dying again. Give me a Warlock whose build is based around staying alive any day of the week. A Warlock using self-res is basically waiting to die. They're holding the rest of the team back. They don't generate orbs unless they die. They don't activate supers unless they die. They're basically a drain on DPS and team strategy/cohesion. If you're a Warlock with self-res, you're letting your team-mates down. When recruiting for Raids, I ask people if they use self-res and then turn them down if they say yes. I want my Warlocks to be team-players, not people concerned only about themselves.
It's not really any use in PvP either.
Edit: apologies if I've stopped replying to someone in particular, this forum makes it impossible to look through everything and keep up with every conversation. Edit 2: Next week on Ackter Provokes: The Gjallarhorn and how if it was suddenly removed, 99% of players would no longer be able to beat anything!

    • Golden gun can't be used as a panic move? Fists of havoc can't be used when you're about to die? Ward of dawn only produces 2 orbs of light. In Nightfall, self-Rez is great to revive your team mates because If you go down its ok. All classes and sub-classes all have beneficial perks for the entire team. So simmer down tater tot.

Self rez is probably the least useful in pvp. When I see a lock die and rez half the time I'm able to just stick him, shoot, and get a free kill lol. You know that guy is probably going for an easy revenge kill, which IS a crutch. In pve it is useful though. Its one thing to die a lot and need it as a crutch, but using it for the benefit of the team is not a crutch, especially if you're putting yourself between your team and the enemy to save your fireteam or resurrect them. While I do enjoy radiant skin and kicking ass way more (especially in pvp), sometimes it just makes more sense to use fireborn, especially in a raid to prevent a wipe, or in a nightfall to avoid a restart. Sunsingers who are good with their class know this.
Op makes class hate thread. Entire thread calls him out.
• Usually my teammates will ask me to turn it on for nightfall and raids. The rest of the time I use a more defensive setup. Everything has its place. I think it lets my team be more aggressive knowing I can save us all.

            • What good thing comes out of Radiance? Not a god damn thing. Self Rez makes Sunsinger actually useful. Main a Warlock and play it for an extended amount of time. See how much you'll hate it. Voidwalker is the orb generating subclass. So, get good, scrub.

            • A crutch for the weak? So self-res isn't useful when everyone dies in the nightfall and you res, revive your team mates and finish the boss? Or is it not useful when in VoG hardmode your at the confluxes and your team (Christmas noobs that you are helping out) all die causing you to bring out gjallahorn and kill everything but die from the templar shooting you then res and continue devastating the vex until legions?

                • Ok read through a lot of stuff on here looks like you dont like having a warlock with self rez because it makes team play worse. Interesting that you would say the suck when you stated that the team needs them more then they need it. Sounds a lot like class hate to me

Self revive is completely useless in PvP. I think you need to rethink your claims.
Saying it's not really any use in PvP either - no, it's completely useless in PvP. In PvE they are vary useful for many reasons, the main one being the life saver of a team who wiped. Get a clue.
• Listen up boner taster, it's crazy handy in a nightfall when a rouge enemy swats you with light switch and you die. Don't act like you never die. "I never die in destiny" you sound like third grader lying about being able to hold your breath for ten minutes.

                  • haha your a fool buddy. my first and main character is warlock.. you can't generalize a players tactics and game play through the character and perks( selected on the character). I love warlocks and I love the self resurrect don't get me wrong it's clutch to have, but I don't rely on this ability to save me or win me a fight. I never save my super, I use it at the right time n right place. bombarding enemies with fusion/solar grenade (depending on type of enemy) and using my flame shield to survive in the thick it or evade from too much damage with a extra shield. that's why warlocks are in the "middle of the battle". I use my super in cases where I am about to die more much more often so I can cool down my scorch(shield) and grenades (fire power) helping me not die then rather dying and coming back. warlocks not helpful or good team players? once again I just gota laugh and pity a fool I always get 1st or 2nd on kills n kd ratio every raid or weekly event I do on my warlock. and on average I generate 6-8 orbs of light with each super use. you are the type of ignorant player who shouldn't be allowed to express themselves on the forums. please save yourself time and post valid n reasonable ideas on here..

                  • It is because we can risk dying that makes self resurrecting a team use. For instance, I always stay back a bit during legions on the confluence part of hard vog. I do it so that the baddies aim at me instead of my teammates in case they have trouble getting in the cave to hide. I act as a decoy because I can come back. It also allows us to do more risky things with a bigger reward when shit hits the fan. Say I'm defending a conflux, teammate dies and we're getting swarmed. I can either retreat and risk them sacrificing or get in there, do some damage, die, come back, and do more damage.

                        • i dont think its a crutch at all and i KNOW there r ppl who use it as a back up plan for mistakes. like those people who rez RIGHT after they die without assessing the situation ifbthey need to hold if off in case group wipes. also, self rez in pvp imo is not as good as survivability and not dying. i personally dont think its worth self rezzing after getting killed in pvp esp around larger group of ppl. yeah it can be satisfying to get back at the dude who killed u but i dont find it tactical most of the time. i run radiant skin so i can last longer in defending the flag now if u are in a premade game thats a diff story.... u can tell ur teammates. "ok got killed man, im gonna let these group of enemies cap the flag then when they (if they) leave im gonna recap it after rez. may need some backup." this applies to pve as well. when i die, its usually a really dumb mistake or in a very difficult firefight. i always tell people before hand DO NOT come rez me and risk ur life if the situation sucks. if they are in trouble, i rez to come help or rez them after observing. But yeah seen way too many people who use this as a clutch rather than being tactical with it. fellow sunlocks, even with fireborn, play as if you are doing the "do not die in strikes." lol
