I have been thinking about this for a good part of the day because I have cheesed Crota many times but I love difficult games. I play nearly every game on the hardest difficulty available and will spend hours trying to figure out how to beat things on other games. My first VoG run was around 5 hours of trial and error and Atheon was not beat. I still had fun because of the difficulty and everyone was working together and trying. Fast forward a couple months and 18 full raids later (all on a hunter) and I was still stuck at 29 because boots would not drop. It was during this stretch that I quit complaining about cheesing Templar/Atheon and just wanted to get to drops as quickly as possible. I have beaten this raid with and without cheese and it isn't all that difficult either way (with a decent team) so I continue to do it the fastest way.
