What's the difference between an object in an illusion and a computer simulation?

One is subjective, the other, objective.

  • Only because you labeled them that way. "Reality" could be considered to be no more than a simulation following our physical laws as parameters. So if that is the case what makes something "real"? Is an illusion in your mind not the same thing? You have to define something before it can be proven.

Real is what is observable, tangible, objective, and/or what is not able to be unmade. If something isn't real, it can simply be unmade.
