Not really. Religion only give assurance about afterlife. If we were all fake, we wouldn't need to make such things, as nothing would happen to us anyways.

  • It's kind of always been used as the built in answer to every question that's complicated for lack of a better word.

Religions have caused more questions than answers, IMO.

  • I feel like most people with a solid mind would be able to find such answers adding a God to the equation.

They might. But even then, it still wouldn't really matter. This life hardly matters to a religious person.

  • That's an unfortunate truth in many cases.

I believe, as a religion person, this is the only life that matters. Who cares if we go to Heaven if we do nothing here. We can't positively affect anything once there. Of course, I'm going off the idea that there is a Heaven, God, etcetera.

  • I look at this life as a chance to allow God to work through me to bring others to him, after all, my place is secure, but others aren't so, so why shouldn't I care about the one life I have to help bring others to Christ?

  • That's a great way of looking at it. I'm a big fan of "do unto others". But being a generally good person spells out well with or without being religious.

Aye. It can never go wrong. Unfortunately, religious people have more incentive because they want reward. It's for all the wrong reason, I'm afraid.

  • I don't even feel like it matters if they're doing it for incentive, the ends still justify the means. Whether you get to heaven or nothing happens or go to hell, at least you made the only during-life we have better instead of worse.

As much as that kind of counters my beliefs and religion's doctrines, I have to agree. For me, it's sad to know some are going hell. Some who are really good people with great intentions for the fellow man.

  • But you can't technically say if anyone is going to hell or heaven. If you believe what the book teaches you then you would know only God gets the final say. There is no surefire way to get into heaven or hell from my knowledge of any scripture.

Except that we have the promise of either Heaven or Hell. Yeah, he's God so he can do whatever he wants, but why would he lie? Anyways, if you have any questions, I would be glad to answer them in PM.
