Why was halo 2 so rushed?

  • It wasn't rushed. Bungie just bit off more than they could chew, realized the engine they built for the game wasn't going to work in the end, so they scrapped it, consolidated all other teams at Bungie, and essentially built Halo 2 in a year. Fun-fact: The third act of Halo 2 that was cut from the game is Halo 3.

  • The entire Halo 3? Or just the first act?

All of Halo 3 basically. To clarify, the final act of Halo 2 probably wasn't going to be nine missions. But when Bungie needed to turn Halo 2's final act into an entire game, they modified and extended the original plan. For example, the Ark was supposed to be on Earth.
