EXCLUSIVES TO SONY, BUT HERES THE REAL QUESTION.

WHY? GOOD QUESTION. Obviously a contract was made between Sony and Bungie to guarantee exclusives for playstation, BUT. The question is, WHY. Clearly, Sony paid some cash for that, in hopes it would sway a many a folk to buy a playstation, to have the "superior" destiny console. What I don't understand is that, WHY, did Microsoft not make this deal. Now let's get something straight, Microsoft is SO F*CKING RICH, the second wealthiest company in the world (behind apple), Bill Gates who helped to found it, is so f*cking rich, he alone could buy out sony, bend it over a barrel and ride that f*cker into the ground, and he would still be one of the richest men in the world, no sweat. SO, Just imagine how much cash the entire company has. It seems Microsoft could have easily made that contract right? But there's more to it, now I'm not sure about what happened exactly. No one knows if Microsoft just didn't see the opportunity as feasible or outright decided, F*ck you Bungie, for even considering another console as your exclusive outlet. And the latter makes more sense to me, because listen up. Obviously Halo was an outstanding franchise that "defined a generation" and popularized first person shooters, made them mainstream. But did you ever think to realize who made Bungie!!!?, F*cking MICROSOFT MADE BUNGIE WHO THEY ARE TODAY, without Microsoft taking a leap, signing Bungie in to the squad and taking them under their wing, guiding them to greatness, you likely wouldn't know what the f*ck I was talking about when I said Bungie, you'd probably think I was some weird assmotherf*cker talking about trampolines or some sh*t. Bungie owes EVERYTHING to Microsoft. So it begs the question, WHY, WHY did Bungie choose Sony over Microsoft, over the company that nurtured and cared for their frightened newborn baby of a company in Bungie? I DONT KNOW. But it pisses me the f*ck off and poses as a monumental curiosity in my eyes! Thank you for your time. #nintendo?¿(•.•)¿?

  • Actually, the fans made Bungie who they are today. Microsoft was just a middle man. If the fans decided to never buy a Halo game, Bungie would have tanked with or without Microsoft. Now, they're stuck with a new publisher, Activision, that judges where money comes from and how contracts are done. So kindly shut up and stop spewing your stupid everywhere. It's disgusting.

There is three big reasons why Microsoft wouldn't make this deal: The first is that they had already sunk a fortune into Titanfall; which unfortunately while being a good game it was obviously the wrong FPS to back last year. Second Microsoft is not happy with the Xbox property; for years now they have been contemplating selling off the entire Xbox franchise, and I am sure they don't enjoy funneling as much money into it as it requires when their software division is far more profitable and easier to manage. Third, a great deal of Microsofts financial plans are tired directly into their Windows 8 mobile platform; which includes developing the Surface Pro line as well as their purchase of Nokia. You have to imagine that even if they have the funds to spend on getting exclusive content for Xbox games they would probably want to spend it on more than a couple weapons and some strikes, perhaps maybe something along the lines of a whole game (Tomb Raider 2.) What you are missing is that just because they might have the money that doesn't mean that they are willing to spend it on exclusives or even deam them worth the money they would cost.

          • Also, the xbone is a terrible system. I bought one for titanfall, and I've only turned it one once since last April. Was a total and complete waste of money

Something to consider is that Bungie/Activision may have made the exclusive offer to Sony first (and possibly to Sony only). You're correct that Microsoft put Bungie on the map, but you're forgetting that Bungie was often not particularly happy with the relationship and broke it off as soon as they were feasibly able too. You also might remember that before Microsoft Bungie was an up and coming studio in it's own right with a few critically acclaimed games under it's belt. Halo likely would have been a hit even without Microsoft, although possibly not as big of a hit (and it's arguable that the XBOX would have been a complete failure without Halo). Bungie would have very likely continued to be a successful company even without Microsoft's support, although it's hard to say if a multiplatform or Sony exclusive Halo would have been as popular. Halo's reputation (accurate or not) as the only XBOX game worth playing* certainly helped focus a huge amount of attention on it. The game might not have gained as much attention in the much richer Playstation and PC libraries. Anyway, characterizing Microsoft's treatment of Bungie as nurturing and caring is pretty inaccurate, at least according to many reports. It's also worth pointing out that Bungie reportedly had a good relationship with Sony prior to being bought by Microsoft. * Despite popular opinion, teh XBOX did have a handful of really great games besides Halo. I'm very fond of Panzer Dragoon Orta and Jet Set Radio Future (both of which were wildly unpopular and sold poorly).

              • It's because Bungie got fracked by Microsoft during the halo days, Bungie now holds a grudge and supports playstation... This is already very well known.

              • Sony made a deal because Sony NA almost went bankrupt last year and needed a scheme to get cash fast. "Hmm...say, what was the name of the game everyone was talking about? Destiny? We should invest some money for a huge turnaround!" And there was a huge turnaround. Sales skyrocketed. Great business strategy.

              • Lol. Okay, here's your reason. Activision decides things like exclusives and dlc, while Bungie simply tries to develop a game to the best of their ability. Activision already sells exclusives to Microsoft with Call of Duty. So why not sell exclusives to Sony with Destiny? With this approach as a business you would effectively maximize profits on both platforms. Trust me, all this talk about "Bungie giving exclusives" is just flat out wrong. At the end of the day, developing a game is still a job and all the employees at Bungie want to do is bring home the bacon to their families like everyone else.

              • You answer your own question In your first sentence. There was a contract, a contract probably worth ALOT of money. You don't violate contracts. Idk why you had to write a -blam!-ing story for a question you already answered.
money makes the world go round man
