I am glad Xur didn't have the Gjallarhorn, here's why.
Ok, so let's start with the basic logic everybody already understands.
1) Xur sells Gjallarhorn
2) Everybody is happy and buys Gjallarhorn
3) People spend the weekend upgrading Gjallarhorn
4) By Tuesday, everyone has an upgraded Gjallarhorn- at least with Wolfpack Rounds.
Sounds good so far, right?
Well, let's continue.
5) Weekly Heroic/Nightfall- both jokes, people just use Gjallarhorn and slaughter the boss/the adds quickly and painlessly.
6) VoG - groups kill the Templar instantly, groups kill Atheon within 1-2 time's vengeance. So VoG is a joke.
7) Crota's End- Gjallarhorn on shriekers, every group gets hidden chest free (wasn't hard anyways). Gjallarhorn at Deathsinger, wizards dead in 30 seconds, another 30 seconds shriekers are dead, another 30 seconds to a minute and Deathsinger is dead. People use Gjallarhorn to instantly take down Crota's shield, and use Gjallarhorn on adds+oversoul. Crota fight gets even easier.
8) Vanguard Tiger/Roc - More Gjallarhorn spam, more instant killing bosses.
9) Daily Heroics - these were already pretty easy, made even easier with infinite Gjallarhorns.
Clarification: so now Everybody has Gjallarhorn, it's not special any more, everything in the game becomes a joke. Bungie is either forced to nerf Gjallarhorn or make everything in the game 5 times harder. New players would be angry because they missed the opportunity, and many will stop playing/not buy the game. Nobody has any reason to use an exotic other than Gjallarhorn unless its something like the Hawkmoon, Suros, or Mythoclast. Game is unbalanced, and the end result will be Gjallarhorn being ruined for everyone - or some other unhappy result.
[b]Tl;Dr: Game unbalanced, not fun, Gjallarhorn gets nerfed after a week/everything gets crazy health+damage buffs and everyone is sad.[/b]
Well that's my 2 cents on the matter. What are your opinions on the topic?

3 RepliesThis doesn't make sense. If a weapon makes everything in the game easy it should be nerfed. I hate nerfs. But that's how it should be. Nothing should be able to just completely unbalance a game because multiple people have it. It's also unfair to deprive a certain amount of the player base of a weapon just because they're unlucky

I really want Gally. BUT.....I can't believe I'm going to say this...I hope Xur never sells it. Because I think it'll diminish it's value. I'll wait for it to drop. Hopefully soon!!! Now Icebreaker is a different story he better sell that thing soon or I'm going Xur hunting!!

Anything that makes the game easier when I play with my friends is good in my book. Plus, even if I had gally, I'd probably still stick with my IB & hunger of crota combo

4 RepliesYou did make several valid points, and I have no doubt that many people would certainly abuse the Gjallarhorn if he sold it. With that being said, I get sick of all these people thinking they are better than me because they bought Gjallarhorn when he sold it or got it in a drop. Suddenly, I must be a scrub because RNG has not granted me the "Special Wonder Weapon." Would I like Xur to sell it? Sure! For the same reason I want him to sell Icebreaker. If people want it, they will buy it. They will either use it or they won't. Personally, I prefer exotic Specials or Primaries over exotic heavies. So if I did get it, I would probably just use it for boss battles, or to allow me to fulfill different roles in a fireteam, like redabishai said a few comments down. The gun is easily the best launcher in the game bar none, so don't be surprised if they use the dreaded Nerf gun on it, or at least improve other launchers like Dragon's Breath to be more effective compared to it.

Reading your post I do agree with you. Beating omnigul in this weeks nightfall in less than 10 seconds was a bit mental.

While your logic is excellent, I have a maxed out 331 Gjallarhorn and it made this weeks nightfall a joke However I typically pass on using Gjallarhorn as my one and only exotic weapon because of the extreme limitation to ammo, generally I run my Icebreaker which I find is a more useful exotic weapon in all scenarios

2 RepliesIf the weapon is over powered just nerf it. Having it as an exclusive RNG welfare weapon is rediculous. If they want to have an over powered weapon then make it part luck and part skill in acquiring it. I feel they tried to do this with the milf-o-cast, but look what happened to that. Ppl cried and it got nerfed hard and even after the "buff" it is basically a solar auto rifle that runs out of ammo fast. The other way to make an OP weapon earned would be to have it only acquired from a difficult exotic bounty. I've been playing since day one. I didn't have the coin when Xur sold it the first week (like most ppl). I do have the ice breaker. I don't mind RNG, but do believe there should be a better path for ppl to aquire weapons. It is kind of a slap in the face when someone with little play time is awarded something like this for doing little to nothing or being carried (in pvp or pve).

So I don't have ghorn or ib but i really don't want xur to sell. Don't get me wrong, I want them both but I see the problem with selling them now that everyone knows just how great they are. Plus it gives everyone that doesn't have them hope that they can drop at any second. Keeps peeps playing!!!

I disagree only because I don't agree, I'd that makes sense. if they xured the gjallarhorn, many people would have it, but you would then have more people able to use more weapons and not being the gjallarhorn guy. for example, i have a 331 ice breaker. when we run crota, I'm usually in boomer duty. I'd like to ever not be. I'd like to run the sword, or dps the swordbearer. but i can't because so few people have the ice breaker. we can drop crota with primaries; I can hit him very hard with the hunger (maxed), so gjallarhorn isn't necessary, per se, but it is nice. if more people had the ice breaker, then i could more often play other roles in my fire team. this holds especially true in nightfalls and weeklies when ammo never drops (brain fart, can't remember that skull). i end up being the only one doing consistent damage because people are ruining out of ammo. yes, gjallarhorn is wicked. yes, I desperately want one. I'd max that mother out in a weekend; I have rocket telemetry waiting, gathering dust. i don't think they should keep xur from selling it. but they could make it 23 coins instead of 17. or only sell the 300 variety. ppl would bitch, but then again, when don't they, lol...

I have no complaints with getting this extremely grindy games content done faster. I say sell the damn gun so people stop complaining anyway.

1 ReplyNow wouldve been a good time to sell it, and for like 30 or 40 coins. Not everyone would have it and people with god awful luck like myself could finally get it using coins that were Worked for, not dumb luck. Plus with the large amount of Christmas noobs that wouldn't be able to get it, not having enough coins, it'd still be exclusive.

Everyone should be able to obtain every gun in the game and use what suits them best. I don't have the gjallahorn and honestly Im not worried about it, but that doesn't mean I don't want to have it sooner than later. Why wouldn't I want an awesome rocket launcher? Arguing that some guns should only be given to a random elite is absurd. Making it harder to get is fine, but impossible is kind of lame. If xur sells it I might concede that it needs to be pretty expensive.

This makes a lot of sense to me good explanation! Plus the gjallahorn gives me something to work towards to get in the game. If I already had it the game wouldn't be as fun bc I would have most of the guns that I wanted

I got it yesterday from an engram and I would have loved it if he sold it today. It would just means I get two more. Why is it a bad thing if strikes and raids with randos are that much quicker? It's a win-win.

Without reading your story, I do not have the weapon @ 1000 hrs, my buddy doesn't have it @ 1300 hrs, & we both also would like it to never be sold..
