Do more people speak English or French and what do you prefer
English

The more east you go in the country, the more French they speak. On the east coast its a bit less. But all of Quebec and some of eastern Ontario speak french

Except Quebec, where a very large population speak understamdable/fluent english. Big cities are much more bilingual than rural areas, which usually speak one or the other. Ontario has French communities as well but these French communities generally produce fully bilingual people I am from Newfoundland and "native French" is non existent. Portuguese and even Icelandic languages are [i]much[/i] more common.

Edited by RH Stealth: 1/1/2015 11:58:51 PMYeah, if you're just considering the population as a whole, English is more widely spoken. French is more common in certain areas -- think French is somewhat common in New Brunswick, too.

You are correct. New Brunswick is the only official bilingual province.
