Given that it had very little hype, Shadow of Mordor certainly lived up to it. Would have lived up to a fair amount more, too.

I didn't like Shadow of Mordor that much, it was way too easy and the boss battles were crap. Besides that it was a very good game.

Fair criticisms, I've heard them before. These things always boil down to personal preference. In the context of this thread, though, it was definitely exceeded it's hype (it really had none). Now that it's been out, it has a body of solid reviews and GOTY awards, though. But that's a different subject.

Edited by Voraj: 2/19/2015 2:13:01 PMI think this might be why it won game of the year. All the other contenders were crazy over-hyped and fell very short, but still were, in my opinion, funner than SOM. Its hard not to love a game that didn't piss you off and leave you feeling ripped off

Shadow of Modor- Game of the Year

Has to be included in the argument, at least. I've been lucky, got the new console in October, bought 5 games - destiny, Mordor, DAI, diablo 3 (had that on the old system), The Last of Us. Haven't played Last, but made out pretty good. As much as I bag on destiny, for good reasons, I play it all the time, though I do it for the co-op with friends. Only solo it for the grind. However, once another co-op comes along we all agree on, destiny well be played less. Thinking Bloodborne us gonna be that game.
