Cut one horse into tenths and squeeze him right on in there.
-
Combine the nine boxes and you have ONE GIANT BOX full of HORSES (10 to be exact) Or... You take the tops of of each box to make a tenth box, because no one said they had to be closed.
-
One of the horses is dead. You bury the dead horse, and you place the rest of the horses in the boxes.
-
Sorry unfortunately not the right answer.
-
Put each letter of "ten horses" in a box? There is 9 letters, and 9 boxes. My best guess after reading the comments.

Use the nine existing boxes to build a tenth box

Feed a horse to another horse or maybe one horse is pregnant.
-
Nice try no cigar.
-
You just put more than 1 in a box. You never said the boxes could only got one horse :)
-
Fair enough. Its implied but the answer is still no.
-
Chop them up into pieces.
never said they had to go in whole
-
When I learned this riddle I said the same thing unfortunately that is incorrect.
-
You use a shrink ray.
-
Great idea not the answer. Though.
-
You use quantum mechanics to have two horses occupy the same space at the same time
-
Take a hair off each horse and stick 2 in one box and the others in one.
-
Not even close but that made me smile.

The glue factory
-
Nope that's removing horse to plus glue. But good try.
How do you sir put ten horses in nine boxes with out adding a box or remixing a horse.
Simple. One of the horses hasn't been born yet so it stays in its mothers belly as you put it in it box.
-
You put two horses in one box, since there wasn't a stipulation that each horse had to be in its own box.
