Do Crota-Kneelists deserve to get banned?

Yes, they clearly violated the Terms-of-Service

So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/85926505/0/0 FYI: At least three persons already got banned Edit:Bungie updates stats on Crotacompletes https://twitter.com/bungie/status/546107092885446656 Inb4 Banhammer EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC. 1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch. 2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous) 3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point. So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down? Calculation: 2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid 1,440,000,000= for all players Ergo The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is 100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5 And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host: 1,16e -5 For comparison: The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5 Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O30249lCy1c&t=4m47s EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening, We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers. A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken. As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives. A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider. Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread. Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!) b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!) Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.) Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't. Edit 2: 1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try. 2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry. --- Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
Source EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over. I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone. Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck. I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind. Signing out ;-)

    • People who exploit these things are just doing Bungie's QA work for them for free. Why pay people to test this game over and over when you can make sure it works then wait for the internet to find all the cheap exploits.

I still can't find a group to beat him legit or cheese! He is such a bitch I pretty much have given up. Especially when he twice jumped off the platform to chase us down and one shot us in the pit and in the deathsinger hallway

Looking at the 53% of NO, i would say the majority of them will have exploited it, even if only once, Bungie is not going to ban 50% of their DLC paying customers

Yes because if they aren't skilled enough to go through the raid they don't deserve the rewards. Every new raid I've done I've done with my clan. We don't cheese its not hard. This is the exact reason us level 32s ignore you pesky 31s in the tower. Random:"Hey can you help with crota?" Me:"Sure" random: "Okay once we drop him I'll leave the game. Me "leeroy Jenkins!!!!!" As I rush to mele crota cause an over soul and leave. Gg cheesers. I'm not helping any of you when they patch it. The reason why cheesing grinds my gears is because the developers have to go back re program old shit when were all on the forums asking for new bigger better updates that will make the game more enjoyable for all. Also if you don't earn your gear playing the game the way its designed to be played you don't deserve it. I've got little faith in bungie for the hard raid (second guessing if they can fix this) but if they do good luck scrubs. Also before cheesers pretend that they have important responsibilities crotas end took my group 42 minutes from start to finish 100% legit we even waited 5 minutes at the end for the activity rewards page. Don't claim that you don't have 1 hour to do your raid out of seven days. If you can't beat it in an hour you gotta level up or re think your strategy.

            • I beat it legit because most of my fire team thought it would be fun. But I don't think those that cheeses it should be ban. Actually they are only hurting themselves because you can be sure this will be fixed when hard mode is released.

            • How are you manipulating networks? To do it correctly you just need to leave the game. Leaving your lan line/wireless intact. Get your facts right.

Ban crota until they fix him. On second thoughts I would love to see a GTA style ban like when cheats had to wear dunce hats that couldn't be removed and could only play in a cheaters lobby! That was so awesome.....oh the Lols we had. :-D

              • Atheon was cheesed constantly and no bans were issued. Cheesing Crota has the same net result (loot you haven't "earned"); only the mechanic is different. While that mechanic may technically fall under the category of a bannable offense, I don't see anyone being punished for it. To wit: this isn't just Bungie we're talking about here, but Activision. Remember in Black Ops 2 when people would dashboard all the time to save their precious K/Ds? This constituted network manipulation in order to gain an unfair advantage and was highly disruptive to other players. But at most people would receive temporary probation from the game if they repeatedly dashboarded. I'd expect a similar nonchalance here, with bans being reserved for Crucible exploits or genuine hacks.

              • Bungie wont be the one to ban these players. The online providers will. Meaning microsoft and sony. It violates their terms of service towards online games.

              • No, Bungie should add a code that Croata only gives chatterwhite if he is down for more than 1 min at a time. Players would get booted for asking to cheese him. Players need to learn how to kill Croata on normal to get ready for hard raid.

                • No they shouldn't ban them. What they should do is hire these people, that can find the cheese so easily, to test the new content before it's released. Problem solved.

                  • I can see this argument from just about every angle. The people doing this aren't doing it with a modded system, they are just simply leaving the game. If the boss happens to take a break during that time then so be it, they are really only hurting themselves for the inevitable day it gets patched. This raid fails on so many levels it's sickening, the fact that 1-2 people can get to Crota and kill him is a complete shocker. Still love the game though, best one I have played in a long time, it's perfect for the old school PC grinder like myself. The weapon, gear and item design for the Raid is an offense and it should be punishable by death. Every time I see some of these weapons all I can think about is the conversation that went on at Bungie HQ: Carl, Dev. 1 - "Shit, shit, shit...ran out of time here for the Raid, what the hell are we going to do about the new weapon design Larry?" Larry, Dev. 2 - "Relax Carl, relax. We have another 5 gallon bucket of Premium Grade Hive Dip en route. No need to get excited." Carl - "Whew, that hive dip is really coming in handy right now, all we have to do is take the current vanguard and crucible stock and slather 'em with hive parts!" Eris - "Crooooootaaaa!"

The whole purpose of waiting to release the hard raid was to allow Bungie the opportunity to fix the bugs / cheeses before releasing it... If people didn't have to run the raid 20 times to get the gear and materials (especially new materials that only exist inside of the raid), people probably wouldn't be so apt to take shortcuts to beating it... I haven't cheesed it, but I understand why some people would. Honestly, compared to Atheon, Crota is boring and I've seen groups going at it for 2 hours not getting anywhere. I'm not a big fan of the new raid, because to me, it feels like they made the raid, realized it was too easy, and instead of adding content, they just raised the level of the enemies at the end to 32 and increased the number of them coming at you to make it seem "harder" than it really is or should be...

                      • Just to point out, those ToC's apply to all exploits and glitches, which means there'd only be three people left on the Xbox and that's only because they hadn't played a game yet.
