The Janus Corporation deploys an invasion force to an extremely hostile planet. An indigenous life form is discovered, appearing to be a strange, primitive sub-species of humans. They are enslaved and the natural resources of the planet harvested. The slaves are put to work building slipspace drives for Corporation ships. No colony is developed.
