i have a sharp aquos. its technically a 3k tv as it has 3 sub-pixels. it up scales to 3k. the blacks aren't close to my Samsung plasma. but i think the worst is the glare. i can't get my room dark enough to counter act it.
i decided against 4k because there isn't enough content out yet and there isn't a standard format yet. so that means in a few years your 4k tv may not be compatible with the latest 4k movies/games, ect.
i still miss my plasma.

So true, remember those first few batches of hdtv before hdmi? They all cost several thousand and were obsolete within a few years of hdmi's release. My old DLP was one of those hdmi-less tv's, the people at the electronic stores used to tell people hdmi won't last because cables were too expensive and it's unneccessary. Now look at the market.

as a general rule of thumb, i never buy a "first" of anything. as much as i would like to be the first to have something, it also means i will be the first to have an issue with it. i'd rather wait for others to have the issue, get it fixed and then i will get the product.
