I've been gaming for 5+ years on plasma 3D HDTVs, no issue at all. I played the DCUO MMO on ps3 like it was my job, no burn in. Destiny on PS4 on my newest 3D tv, again, no burn ins. It all depends on if you age(break in) the plasma properly before you use the tv for gaming. I made sure to take the proper steps to age the plasma, then after a few hundred hours of use. (I used a professional plasma tv kit to calibrate both of the tv's, my friend does this for a living and I used his calibration equipment) and then I started to game. As a result, both of our Samsung plasma 3D tv's are fine.

  • Hello, thank you for your knowledgable post. I did however properly break-in me set using D-Nice sliders for 300 hours, before well over 1000 hours of other general content before playing Destiny. Sadly, the HUD still burnt in, badly at than, all from normal gameplay sessions. I'm amazed no word on this has been spoken by Bungie yet, as this thread shows others have also had this problem.

Wow, that sucks. After breaking mine in, I have no problems on either of them. Sorry to hear that you do. DCUO and FFXIV are SO much worse, the loadout bars, maps, chat box, server info, etc. All stay on the screen 100% of the time. Played for severallll hours each day, no issues. Wonder why you're having the problem? A tv salesman here, said the model you listed is an older tech model. Perhaps thats it?

  • Yeah, it is. And it's no trouble. Every tv should be calibrated for its best overall picture. As far as aging goes, simple. Just turn the brightness down a bit for the first few hundred hours. Hell, I bought it, plugged it in, left it on while I was at work, and as we slept. The break in period went very fast. And the refresh rate on a plasma is great for gaming. As well as the deep blacks. Not trying to get into any led vs plasma debate, just saying its great for gaming if properly set up.

  • Most tv's I've seen come from factory with brightness and backlight set way to high. My last tv came set at 91 backlight and 80 brightness, it is extremely noticeable and will give many people including myself headaches. Its probably in hoping people won't realize to turn it down and end up cutting the tv's lifespan in half.

  • Yeah, it's called the showroom setting in some TV sets. Way to bright and over saturated.
