No direct attack was planned, in part due to the lack of solid intel, and sheer overwhelming pressure that the Covenant's military was pushing on humanity, leaving UNSC forces stretched thin. Offensive operations were definitely conducted, but none of that magnitude. The closest one was Operation: RED FLAG which was scuttled when the Covenant made their presence known in the Epsilon Eridani system on August 30th.
