The reason there isnt a story is because its stretched out over 10+ years. Get it? its a 10yr game, so year 1 you get 1/10 the story.

It's a ten year plan for a franchise not a ten year game, there is a crucial difference between them. The franchise is merely an elaborately conjured estimation of profits projection, whereas the game is the bait used to collect the income to match the projected estimate. Within the franchise, or the ten year plan, the story may change radically, to the point where it is not recognizable to the original outset. Instead of "Destiny", you would have, say, the story of "Fate," for example - still in the same Universe, yes, but without any ties to each other. So, how can you then say for certain that you are going to get one piece of the story of the game "Destiny" each year for ten years, when it is the rate at which the franchise produces enough monetary profits that determines whether or not the story or the game is viable enough to maintain that rate? If the story or the game in "Destiny" cannot keep up, then the franchise can simply turn its head around to create something that may be able to do that, and it may have no ties at all to the story in "Destiny". So how can we say with an absolute guarantee, that we will see a final resolution or ending to this story (is there even an actual beginning to it?), when it is not really the game or the story that matters but the demand to produce enough profits to satisfy the projected estimate of monetary gain? If there are no profits to gain, then the project will be dropped immediately without hesitation, and thus, your story will never be finalized. You are, after all, living in a world where you are forced to make money, or perish. So what makes you think a monolithic corporation cares about whether or not you have a good time, well, besides from using your desire and craving for pleasure as a bait to earn vast amounts of money?

Why do you not see a problem with this? You paid 60 bucks for a game with no story, and you understand to get anymore content you need to pay more money. Over the course of these 10 years you speak of you will likely have bought 3-4 destiny sequels and perhaps 8 expansions. That adds up to a ton of money, and honestly it just is not worth it. The 10 year argument just shows how blind and ignorant people can be.
