The best mission to do the first 2 parts is the Dark Below mission on earth! If you are careful you can even get both without having to go to orbit. In it, you run into one wave of 7-10, then soon after, 4 waves of 8 thralls ( I think) come down the steps. I managed to complete both with my second character.
