To everybody saying "it's a waste of time"... I sure hope the game is actually fun for you. It sounds boring to play only for the gear. I sure as hell don't need level 31 gauntlets, BUT I can't wait to do some new and fun stuff with my friends when I get off work. Not everything needs to grant you a badass reward. You're supposed to be playing video games for fun. So have fun with it!

But I already have level 31 gauntlets... There are plenty of other fun things to do in the game.

  • the problem is ANYTHING is fun wheen you do it with friends. the stuff ingame IS infact the same shit like always. if you were playing alone you wouldnt do the mission unless you needed the gauntlets

  • This ^^^ Plus it's free Gauntlets. My Warlock needs gauntlets and it's an easy way to do it.

  • honestly the mission they have you do at the end is super fun and really difficult, I died several times solo-ing it, just don't by any guantlets from vanguard, I wish I waited to do this quest before buying gauntlets :(

  • I'll be doing it because that's the last piece of gear I need before I can hit 31. And in Crota's End, there's apparently a HUGE difference between a 30's dps and a 31's. So, it's either wait until the tuesday reset... or do this. Think I can handle this.

  • Yeah man, it'll help with the Raid for sure. We got all the way to Crota with all level 30s but he's tough without at least 1 or 2 31's in the group, so might as well level up just enough. And yeah, this doesn't sound hard. Just time consuming, but still fun. As is most of the game, lol.

  • Agree - this game can be a grind but the social gaming elements is why I play this game. Even patrols can be fun with a fireteam of friends. I would probably be board to tears if I had to grind solo or PVE missions all the time. Gear/weapons preferences gives individual identity IMO makes the grind not so bad either.

  • I understand where you're coming from, but I think the problem was how they went about doing it. Forcing everybody to wait several days for an unknown reward, leaving time for rumors and speculation about it being this holy grail. Then when you get the reward, it's no better than what most people already have and can buy from any vendor in the tower. Only thing is it looks unique.

True but on the other end, if it was some awesome badass item, everybody would have it, which decreases it's value to a degree, on top of the fact even though Its long and tedious to do its still easy. And ppl who haven't gotten the dlc will be much more upset if they were handing out free cool items just for buying. They already give us a sparrow, a fusion rifle a mark and the gauntlets. Some people just don't appreciate things (granted I do agree the dlc is lacking in actual content, just more quests to repeat things over and over). Me personally I like having different sets of armor with different abilities because I use most of my weapons and armor. But someone who doesn't even use scouts probably feels shafted. I'm glad I got the auto rifle gauntlets first though now I need the pulse and the hand cannon and I will have a set to boost the reload of any of my weapons except heavy.

  • Fair enough. Me, I just kept that thing in my bounties slot, with no expectations, lol. I figured it would just earn me more xp, so I'll accept some welfare gloves and throw them on my alt until he gets his own raid gear. I guess the whole "talk to Xur" part was unnecessary. People need to quit hyping themselves up though and just enjoy the game for what it is. In my opinion.

  • Total agreement. Can't wait to get together with my friends tonight and run through this quest line. I don't mind playing solo but I have way more fun with my buddies. And I actually like the bonuses of these gauntlets, so I'm sure I'll get plenty of mileage outta them anyway.

  • Yeah, they serve their purpose as a segue to level 32. I'm always up for different stats, since if I replace say, my boots, which are 130 strength, I lose all of my strength. Smart guardians will always be mindful of different stats on different gear and plan/use accordingly. Dumb Guardians walk around with 400 intellect/ 0 discipline/ 0 strength... Derp -_- But yeah, gear aside, the game is just so fun. Even killing low levels on patrol is fun, and the only reward is a little bit of rep and xp. I'm excited for a fun, new, more challenging series of bounty quests, why not?

  • Or the Gunslinger Hunter who runs around with cranked strength, Knife Juggler, Gamblers Dagger, and armour effects that give extra grenade energy for knife kills, extra super energy for grenade kills, and weapon effects that grant grenade energy. It's actually a much faster grenade/super regen having it that way than having well-balanced stats. The strength is there for the occasional miss. 100% effect to strength gives a very fast return on any missed knives, and Juggler grants a free knife on precision knife kills.

  • Lol, oh yes please give me random kill quests with worthless rewards bungie. Why don't you just run the first part of the raid over and over again if you like killing things with no reward.

  • Hmmm... the word "new" seems to have gone right over your head. As for the first part of the raid, seeing as I've done it about 7 times this week, 4 of those netting me no rewards.... each time was super fun with a good group of people. Sucks you don't enjoy the game, just the loot.

  • So what you're saying is you enjoy just shooting things in a game that is supposed to yield a reward when accomplishing something? I enjoy the piss out of destiny but make a long tedious quest line with shit reward is just stupid. Who do they think is going to complete it? It's obviously going to be the people wanting bigger better gear. They need to start paying out for completing things in this game. The amount of people is going to dwindle again unless they stop doing things like this.

I've always been under the impression the only way to get raid gear (level 32 gear) is playing the raid. Nothing has changed. Good. If people quit now because they're not getting good enough handouts and they don't enjoy the actual gameplay, then they should have just quit a long time ago. Besides, I'm sure these bounties at least give some xp to level up your raid gear and new weapons. It's not a lost cause, even if you're in it only for the loot. Level up your loot then. Or don't, I don't care. I was just pointing out how stupid it is for somebody to play a game that they don't have fun playing. Edit: And yes, I enjoy shooting things in this game. Reward or not. Shooting things in this game is something I immensely enjoy, especially when my fireteam friends are shooting things with me. The only time I get bummed when I don't get a good reward is in the Raid or Nightfall. Everything else is just fun content to breeze through.

  • But it's not a handout when you complete a long quest line, it's deserved.

I don't think anything other than a decent weapon or decent gear should have been given. We already got a decent weapon pretty much for free (murmur was simple to get), not to mention a cool class item, so the gloves seem to be a bonus on top of all the extra xp we're getting from her bounties to help level up our new stuff. At least, that's how I see it. But then again, I'm not part of the "points for participation" generation either, lol. (not saying you are, just stating my observations from this forum).

  • its not even a long quest line, its a series of bounties that'll take you maybe 30 minutes to complete. the reward definitely fits the bounty, its not as hard as an exotic bounty but theres more to it than a normal bounty. When i picked it up i was only expecting rep/xp, the gloves are actually pretty generous imo. as is the fusion rifle you get at the end of the main story missions in the DLC.

  • EXACTLY. Why do people expect raid gear/ raid weapons from anything other than the raid? As for an exotic, I sure as hell didn't expect that from a simple Eris bounty either, regardless of multiple steps.
