Unable to Play Destiny after DLC Purchase- WASP Error

Purchased the expansion pack today. It automatically downloaded to Xbox One. Have been unable to play Destiny since. When starting the game it starts 2 updates to be downloaded. One is 1.5Mb, the other is 70 or so MB. It stops on one or the other citing the WASP error. I've researched the WASP error and found the following recommended solutions from Bungie: - POWER CYCLE ROUTER - this has to be the dumbest recommended solution I have ever heard for a console game. Yet Bungie gives it for nearly EVERY error code. Tried it - twice - IT DOESN"T WORK. - POWER CYCLE THE CONSOLE - another dumb solution, but have tried a dozen times. DOES NOT WORK. - CLEAR CONSOLE CACHE - performed a dozen times. DOES NOT WORK - UNINSTALL ADD-ONs - like the DLC I just purchased. Uninstalled - DOES NOT WORK - UNINSTALL / REINSTALL DESTINY - this one cracks me up. Did this --- DOES NOT WORK So what's left Bungie? Spent $60 on a game - $35 on an expansion pack - and now it doesn't work. Are you going to even try to address this issue or just keep giving the same stupid recommended solutions you give for everything?

  • Hi Wildcat, I'm really sorry you are hitting this WASP issue. Generally, this error occurs when downloading a patch or update goes awry and the console gets into a strange state. Your Xbox One is told repeatedly to download some files but not all the files get to the right spot or the files don't send the message saying 'we are all here'. The troubleshooting steps you are taking all work to ensure that the files downloaded are fully cleared out and you can start fresh. In many cases, this can work to clear out minor hiccups in the download process. That isn't the case here and I apologize you've had to go through so many steps. I didn't notice in the post, but are you using a wireless or wired connection? I would like to ensure that a weak connection isn't causing the update process to have an issue. Please note, speed isn't always correlated to connection strength and packet-loss can have a real impact, even if speedtests on a computer say your bandwidth is awesome. If you can, also, please try connecting your console directly to the modem, skipping the router entirely. Clear your cache, and then try again. Although unlikely, there are also reports of players having network gear that impacts their ability to download updates/patches. As an absolute final troubleshooting step, you can try bringing your console to a friend's and to download your update there. Although I normally don't suggest this, in rare cases this can work.
