i gotta say, i'm a little annoyed about this as well...i mean, being able to buy mats, instead of having to grind planetside for them, is pretty cool, but i don't see why they needed to get rid of the materials exchange......i mean, what's someone gonna do, spend marks to get mats, to sell the mats, to get marks? you'd be spending more marks than you get back. i mean, it could be a faster way to Velveeta your faction rep, but honestly, there are so many other ways to get faction rep, that it would be utterly retarded to do it this way.
there was honestly no reason to get rid of the exchange....both could co-exist...
i really wish bungie would put it back.

Add more options than delete. I'm sure they could have kept both by removing any exploit like some of the other replies suggested.

that's the thing though.....the only POSSIBLE "exploit", if you can even call it that, would be the faction rep...but using marks to do it would be prohibitively expensive, and lossy, and inefficient, and doing it the old-fashioned way wouldn't work any differently from how it's worked from day one.... honestly, i think it's really just to force us to play the game a certain way. i'm not a fan of this strategy...

Yep, just don't see the harm to allow farmer to build rep and marks. If that is the way some of us enjoyed playing Destiny why remove it? Who cares if we didn't do raids, PvP or strikes evenly. Maybe we were just content to do what we did. It didn't hurt anyone else or cheat them out of something. If anything everyone thinks farming takes too long and is boring. How exactly was removing that a good thing?

yeah, farming was kinda boring, when i ran out of bounties to fill, patrol mission to do, and public events to complete.. i liked to roll all my "errands" into one trip......pick an area i like, on a planet i like, and do everything i needed to do in one go...i'd come out with a ton of mats, a lot of glimmer, lots of recyclable gear, finished bounties, lots of faction rep from patrol missions, ascendant materials, rep, and marks from public events, and a whole mess of EXP......i mean, yeah, i'd hafta blow 2 or 3 hours doing it, but it's not like i had anything else to be doing... the time went even faster if i had friends along with me...we'd shoot the shit for a couple of hours, while we did all our stuff...it was a good time..
