If you look at Bungie's preview for The Dark Below, you may have a noticed a few things about Xur's inventory post-release of Expansion I.
As Bungie pointed out, he has a number of upgrades now available for various Exotic weapons and armor that will increase Attack & Defense, in exchange for Exotic Shards. He also has some Exotics from The Dark Below, including Dragon's Breath, and some new Exotic Titan boots.
But what I find most interesting? He no longer stocks Exotic Engrams. The slot normally occupied by an engram is now filled by an Exotic Shard, which is the new upgrade material made special for Exotic weapons & armor.
What do you guys think of this? On one hand, you'll no longer be tempted to waste Motes of Light on an item that may give you nothing useful; even less useful now, as Exotic armor no longer gives Ascendant Shards when dismantled, and Exotic Shards are cheaper if you just buy them with Strange Coins (they only cost 7 coins).
On the other hand, we no longer have any alternative means of obtaining the Exotic armor we want from Xur, if he doesn't have exactly what we want in stock.
Post your thoughts.
