Quick thought, if they kept materials for marks, whats to stop somebody buying loads of materials with vanguard marks and then selling them for crucible marks?? It would provide less incentive for players to play either pve or pvp if they are already disinclined to it.

From a previous reply to a person who made a similar comment:
10:1 materials for marks + 1:2 marks for materials = 5:1 Mark for Mark Since each mark you gain adds to your 100 weekly cap, yet the ones you spend do not subtract from it, you would have to max 1 type of mark for just 20 of the other, which would leave you unable to gain anymore of that 1st type for the week. Thats a pretty steep cost.
So what, it's not like they're getting something extra fom the act. They're choosing one type of gear over another. For example, they sell Vanguard Marks to get materials then sell these materials for Crucible Marks to then purchase Crucible gear so wwhat's the difference. Done either way, you're substituting one groups Marks for the others gear.No advantage.
