Because about 1% of players used that feature and about 100% of players will use the new feature.

Edited by RedSVO: 12/3/2014 8:23:13 PMNot me at all. I don't want to play PvP. Period. Should not have to. So now I am stuck with purchasing from the Vangard Quartermaster and all the faction leveling is useless to me. Seems pretty silly to me, but I am with bitfiend303 - will be in the Crucible doing nothing - only there for the stupid marks. Way to go Bungie. you keep doing some really stupid stuff with a game I was sold on being" a game I can play any way I want to play it".
-
If you don't play crucible then you shouldn't be allowed to get crucible gear plain and simple.
-
it is neither plain nor simple unfortunately.
-
Edited by RedSVO: 12/3/2014 8:21:11 PMIt is faction gear, not crucible gear. Plain and Simple. Therefore, it should be (and was previously) available to everyone. Again, Plain and Simple.
-
Oh ok I thought you where talking about the crucible vendor. If you ask me the factions should be vanguard marks. But I guess "faction wars" is crucible. We're fighting for the factions that's why they did that. I get where you're coming from they should've just left material trade in. If they keep getting all these complaints I'm sure they'll put it back.
-
Not me. I loathe PVP with a clunky console controller. I (mistakenly) bought this game for the story & multiplayer experience. I'll see you in the Crucible, running in circles not shooting at anything earning marks.

Not everybody has legendary armor and they use the marks to purchase it and weapons....now we have to do strikes over and over to get marks and why cap it at a 100 its stupid.......what they did was dumb and many people are ready to quit because of this.
-
Edited by JD: 12/2/2014 6:19:09 PMWhy anyone would quit because of this mind boggles me. Trading in 50 materials for 5 marks is absurd I would never do that. Basically you would rather farm for material then play the game to get marks lmfao. Just do the daily story and bounties and weeklies and that will max your vanguard marks for the week. I never do strike playlist. 1 pvp match will get you 5-7 marks that's way better then trading 50 materials for 5 crucible marks.
-
2 for losses and 3 for victories. Not 5-7. Each crucible match is about 10-12 minutes on average. 5-6 matches an hour. Max marks? 18. 60 minutes farming, completing bounties and public events? 150 mats, 3 or 4 blue engrams, 20 weapon parts or armor parts and a couple shards/energies. Nobody seems to have noticed how bungie dumped a ton more mats in world in the update before thanksgiving. Why would they have done that if they were going to make them almost useless a week later? I don't know, maybe you do. I personally play both, PvE and PvP, but the option was there if I was a few marks shy of getting the gear or weapon I wanted without having to waste a half hour in the crucible playing Firebase Delphi for the 6th time in a row. For all of you who keep complaining about the PvErs complaining about having to play the crucible, remember this when 3 members on your crucible team are doing the congo line while you're getting your butts handed to you because of them. Nobody likes being told they have to play a game the way someone else does. How would the PvPers love having to complete a 6 mission bounty before they were allowed to play a match in the crucible? Every day. Exactly. Oh what an uproar that would be.
-
Edited by JD: 12/4/2014 11:03:36 PMI'm sure they're going to add it back after seeing all the complaints. I personally never used that and nobody I know did either. I was way to busy using my materials to upgrade gear.

I hope so. I have a feeling that Activision had more to do with this than Bungie did. I feel Activision is the push behind all of the steering towards the crucible, more so than Bungie. I believe Bungie actually thought they were making a game for everyone, PvP players AND PvE players. But Activision wants to maximize their investment. It's sad because I do really love this game, I and alot of other solo players are feeling like we're getting pushed out of the picture. On a side note, how can anyone that have read this thread or any other thread in these forums, still think random matchmaking wouldn't cause problems? There is no civility anymore and these forums really highlight that.
-
Everyone plays the game differently. No need to be belligerent and disrespectful.
-
Yes. Basically farming is more fun for some than playing in the Crucible. I would rather spend an hour farming than 10 minutes in the crucible. I tried the crucible. It was not fun. Not at all like bungie's previous games. Time efficiency is not the only variable in this equation.

I farm and I pvp both

A lot of players don't pvp. Four top trending threads in one day with 1700+ responses on this subject alone underscores this. A lot of us don't raid either - this essentially leaves us at max level 29 and it's okay - you don't need to go any higher. But raiding and pvp are where most legendary/exotic drops are found. If we, the non-pve'ers, want to progres levelwise and get appopriate gear we're basically stuck with buying it. Now we only have 100 marks per week and one weapon vendor and one armor vendor. The pvp crowd have these too and 3 other factions and a possible 100 marks extra per week. You could say just pvp. NO! Assuming that you pvp, what if bungie decided that before every crucible match you had to complete a random story mission? That would suck! Bungies official vision was to make a game that caters to everyone, pve and pvp, and encourage but not force either gametype. We casual pve'ers shouldn't meet a locked door or get forced into doing something we don't want to. The grinding for (pvp)faction-gear isn't exactly hilarious, but in my experience, general looting and farming while pve will weekly gain me about 60-80 crucible marks when vendored - thus giving me acces to all faction gear like the pvp crowd - just by playing the game (pve) - the pvp crowd also have acces to strikes/raids where you get vanguard marks. All this basically boils down to bungie alienating the pve crowd - if you don't feel affected or mainly pvp and raid, why are you here? Why would you take away a large playerbases options if it don't affect you personally? As mentioned before these threads have risen very hastely - we're passioned about the game and not a small percentage.

If there's that many complaints I'm sure they'll look into re adding that feature. I don't like doing pvp either but I still do it for the bounties and marks. I would rather suck it up and play pvp then trade in 50 materials for 5 marks.
-
I am getting truly tired of people saying "Suck it up and play PvP". The entire point of this group of threads is that NOT EVERYONE LIKES PVP!!!!!!! Get a frickin' clue.
-
Edited by JD: 12/2/2014 7:40:44 PMI didn't say suck it up and play PVP. I said I suck it up and play PVP I'm not telling you to do anything. So you need to learn how to frickin read.
-
Besides forcing the pve crowd into pvp will simply ruin the crucible for everyone - the call to nerf shotgun/fusionrifle/suros will go through the roof in a couple of weeks when pvp-noobs like me try our best (k/d 0,7 today...), and I've already seen several just sitting around doing nothing in pvp to get their marks...
-
Your response has made my point exactly - you and I simply have different angles. You 'suck it up' pvp-wise and don't want to waste materials - I respect that completely :-) My pve gamingstyle leaves me with more than enough materials to sell some off and I loathe being forced into pvp. There's simply no reason that you and I shouldn't continue enjoing our respective gamingstyles - with this follows there's no reason for bungie to take away to option to sell materials off - and I'm underlining that the new possibility to buy materials of course should stay - I'd love the option to quickly buy some in the tower in a pinch instead of going off to farm for half an hour.
-
Edited by JD: 12/2/2014 6:13:04 PMI do bounties everyday and the daily story. Then on Tuesday I do the raid nightfall and weekly heroic. By the time the weeks over I have the 100 marks never even touching the strike playlist.
-
I get the 100 marks every week just playing normally I never ever do strike playlist.
