There...was nothing wrong with that. Crucible quartermaster sells weapons with element damage, which is useless in pvp. All faction gear is locked out, which has obvious PVE benefit. There isn't a positive here. The crucible is going to get flooded with people that just want marks, and are going to dance/sit/sparrow flip until the match is done. But hey, bungie gets a daily number boost I guess.

Then they'll get bored and eventually leave, because they'll have decided that its not worth the (lack of) effort. The issue here is that Bungie designed the game so that there were two different equipement streams, with minimal crossover. So that they only way to buy items from PVP stream was to play in the Crucible, and the only way to buy form the PvE stream was to either do the strike list, public events, or daily missions. A few players managed to exploit a loop hole that was clearly designed as a way to supplement income and reps from play the game game, by farming materials. They closed that loophole because it basically risked destroying any-and-all integrity of that system. Once players could buy these mats directly from the QMs. If you only want to play PvE...then you need to make yourself content with mainly Vanguard gear...and the small amount of Crucible gear you'll get in rewards packages from upgrades..and the small amount of faction gear you'll get from levellling up your Cryptarch. But if you want your CHOICE of gear from the Crucible and the factions...then you need to play in the Crucible. It's just that simpel. There are TREMENDOUS positives here. (Which is why Bungie did this). There is just no upside for those who want PvP gear without actually having to participate in that part of the game. Now that is no longer possible, unless you're willing to make yourself content with random gear rewards.

  • See that's thing, I can get the gear I want. Unfortunately, I have to ruin your crucible match to do it. Yes, I'll eventually leave after I get enough marks for the one piece of gear I need, but I'll be an anchor to every team I'm on until then. And I'm stuck on a team at least once, as I see there is only one match style unlocked at first in crucible. Forcing on play style into another is a dumb idea. You would think someone would have noticed how well that went over in mass effect.

  • Play to the objective...and you won't be an anchor. No one is "forcing" anything. You are simply trying to BYPASS one of the LIMITS that was designed into the game. You want the game's rewards without doing what the designer intended for people to have to do to earn them. So your problem is self-created.

  • It wasn't designed into the game, until now. Some of us did wait for reviews to buy. A key alternate path is gone that was explicitly in the game at launch. I get that's not an issue for you.

  • It was designed into the game. It's just that Bungie didn't realize that some people would be so Crucible -averse (yet want faction equipment so badly) that they would farm mats endlessly in order to get the Crucible marks without actually having to play in the Crucible. Just like they didn't realize that some people would stand in front of a cave and shoot monsters for hour after hour in their effort to force them to drop legendary engrams, rather than just earn the marks and rep to BUY them. You found a loophole in the game's design. Bungie decided to close that loophole rather than risk exploding it open to the point where any seperation in the vanguard and crucible marks economies disintergrated.
