So vanguard gear isn't viable?
It doesn't matter what gear you have right now the end goal is to get raid gear regardless of what perks they have.

For me at least, it's more about having options on how my gear looks, or getting a specific set of bonuses. Like how the vanguard gear no longer supports auto rifles.
