If you want Crucible gear, then play PVP. If you want Vanguard gear, then play PVE. I don't see the problem. Sure, with the faction vendors, I get it - but the gear from the Crucible vendors should be exclusive for people who play PVP. But since it seems you only play patrol, you don't really have any need for better gear in the first place.
