A BIG F-U to PvE Players, Thanks Bungie

EDIT #1 BEGIN - Summary for those who missed the OP long a$$ complaint: Removal of material exchange for vendor reputation and marks generated this post. Using a Day 1 feature NOT exploit to access and buy legendary gear and avoid PvP for personal reasons. EDIT #1 END First we get a ton of mods to fix the PvP whining resulting in PvE nerfs, then 2 PvP events to 1 PvE but still more PvE nerfs. Now take away more access to vendor weapons and armor to those of us who HATE PvP with a passion. I was fine farming for material and purchase Crucible items even though it was daunting. Never complained since I could avoid PvP. What the heck was the logic behind removing material exchange for Crucible rep and marks? I never saw any posts or complaints about resource exchange. If anything, it kept PvP haters like me away from ruining PvP games even more than they are already. If this game was advertised as a PvP centric game with a scarce PvE element that would take a back seat to everything PvP I would have passed on it like I did with Titanfall and other PvP games. Either bring back the material exchange for Crucible marks and rep, open all vendors to accept both currencies or I'll just play PvP to piss as many off as possible to obtain a K/D of 0.00. If your going to ruin PvE, I'll do my part to ruin PvP as best that I can. Maybe I'll even be stoked to play Iron Banner 3.0 and shoot for the #1 spot in the worst PvP of all time. Just as you have people that hate PvE, from reading the posts for the past couple of months, you have more that hate PvP. Please tell us now that Destiny is 80% PvP and 20% PvE so we know where you stand. All I know is after waiting and hoping Bungie would bring some love to PvE, all we got was a third and fourth kick in the balls. After the expansion is released and there is still no resolution to this horrible PvE treatment, I'll waste my extra time playing even more like a complete noob in PvP just to piss as many people off as possible. I'll highly recommend that others who feel the same do too. If this was just "another" unintended side effect from a patch I may feel bad for ranting. If not, enjoy the last $ you'll see from me or anyone else who feels the same way. If there is some great addition in the expansion to nullify this rant I truly apologize in advance. BTW, it might help to post a list of the 100 worst PvP Guardians in your app. I would like to try and make the top 10 of that list.

  • How is playing like a noob in PVP a detriment to others? For the other team (6 people) you are an easy kill.

  • I'm a PvE player too but it's clear that factions are mainly for PvP. When you get 25+ there really is no reason to get faction gear that I can see unless a piece or two has just the right perks you were looking for. I don't "hate" pvp with a passion as you do, but I acknowledge that for me, it's a grind and not worth the investment (again for me as a PvE player). Crucible is what I do once I've done everything else for the week under Vanguard so I can have a .001 chance at an exotic and want to get a few marks before reset. Plus, I would argue that Crucible players don't get the same rate of drops as people who play strikes do. I don't begrudge the PvPers to have their factions when we have our strikes that drop the way they do. I do wish they would drop 1-2 more marks in Crucible than they do now.

  • Because you shouldn't be able to get crucible rep and rewards without playing the crucible. They need to allow vanguard marks to purchase from faction vendors, but crucible gear should require crucible play.

    • My question is what do you need the crucible marks for? If you are lvl 28 you can go into the raid and start getting things to be lvl 29 and 30. All you would need ceucible marks for are for weapons and maybe a sparrow at this point, but honestly I have replaced all those weapons for raid weapons and exotics. If you do the raid you will too, I have no use for crucible marks and am glad I can avoid farming by giving them to the quartermaster or w/e. So please, tell me what is so important to get crucible marks?

      • Why do you think you should deserve a crucible item without having to play in the crucible? Im a PvE player as well but the tears from you people over this is rediculous.... you must be part of the "everyone gets a trophy" generation.

        • Think about it: they had a system where you exchange materials for marks. Now you exchange marks for materials. If you earn a bunch of vanguard marks and buy materials, it would break the system if you could then turn those materials in for crucible marks. Instead of running around on patrols for hours, you farm the crucible or you farm the strike playlist. It's definitely an improvement if you ask me; you're in the 1%.

          • Then don't play Crucible? You get damn near the same rewards for Vanguard that you do for Crucible.

            • Unless Bungie quarantines the two, or figures out how to separate weapon stats, this will never end...thus the "balance" patches when they should be working on complete separation.

            • I haven't logged in to check the weapon fixes I've been waiting on because of this. I play PVP with my friends as a group, usually as a last option because I don't enjoy it. Now they've taken away any chance of me getting faction gear without doing PVP, thanks for the big -blam!- you Bungie. I hope you read your own forums, because the general consensus is you took a big steaming shit on your PVE players. Now, before people start trolling this about faction vendors being PVP only gear: 1) Why do faction vendor weapons sell elemental weapons when it's useless in PVP? 2) Why are there 5 PVP vendors and only 2 PVE? All of which the armor looks like ass. 3) I don't raid, I'm in a small clan of a few friends and and a few still haven't gotten to 26. Not to mention none have any real reason to play lately, and I don't play with random squeakers looking to exploit everything. 4) Stats matter to some people, just because you're okay with strength and intelligence with scout rifle perks when you're using auto rifles does not mean it's okay with me. Try making an armor build with specific stats and perks from the vanguard vendor, it's damned impossible. DeeJ, tell your people they -blam!-ed up. I have been waiting for my exotics to be fixed for months, waiting to login and feel the joy I had when I first acquired my Bad Juju. Now that you've taken away our ability to farm and earn gear the way we want to I'll be letting this gather dust on my HD.

            • Hmm...Considering PvE gets a new Raid in a few days, I don't know if I can take you seriously... I consider myself a Hybrid player; Love PvP (hated it at first, but became a God in it now) and PvE is just soothing.

            • Dargon Age inquisition. It's the answer for PvE guys. Playing it right now. It's amazing how much they have thought of the player and his/her options. It's like night and day compared to Destiny, which just stings a little bit more every time. Try it and compare the "how much fun and options is the player going to have" feeling you get from developmental standpoint. It would also help Bungie to develop better games if people would refuse their poor decicions!

              • I figure with adding Marks -> Mats they had to remove Mats-> Marks for 2 reasons 1. So the horrible exchange rate wouldn't be so obvious 2. So people couldn't use the system as a defacto mark storage system to save more than the tiny amount Bungie deigns to let us have.

              • The logic is then you can sit tere and convert for a 5-1 ratio. Bad conversion or not it was there. You get 2 marks per loss. And 3 per win. Go play a game of rumble and sit in a corner somewhere and watch something on YouTube.

              • What are you talking about? Vanguard marks to materials 100 marks = 200 materials. Do it three times a week. 600 materials. Nobodies forcing you to crucible. Unless you wanted crucible marks for factions, then well yes maybe.

I guess if I carried a .48 k/d I'd probably hate the Crucible as well. And, please explain to me how farming spinmetal leaves should entitle you to gear that I have earned by actually playing in the Crucible? That's why there are crucible marks and vanguard marks. You buy crucible gear with marks you earn from playing in the crucible, you buy vanguard gear with vanguard marks you earn from doing PvE stuff. It seems pretty straightforward to me. And, just so you know, although I do prefer PvP to PvE, I don't hate it. Its just, in my opinion, it takes little to no skill to play PvE. Beating people is harder than beating AI.

                • As an almost exclusive PvE player, I legitimately have been surprised by the amount of people that feel this way. I personally never coveted the faction armor, since it pretty much is the same as the vanguard and so I never exchanged mats for marks, especially since spending 30 to 45 minutes to get the 50 you needed was not at all worth it. I have found the new material exchange to be a god send though, since I tend to get around 200 marks a week for my 3 characters while just doing dailies, weekly 28's, nightfalls and public events. I was literally drowning in marks with absolutely nothing to use them for beside randomly buying a piece of armor to break down for ascendant shards once every other week. A couple of weeks ago I calculated that I needed around 4.5k materials to fully upgrade everything I have. I do agree though that there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to buy faction gear with vanguard marks if you feel like it.
