Someone was throwing around a video a month or so ago where DeeJ and the gang were running Crucible matches for shaders. In there he's heard stating that Xur items for sale are decided by Bungie but he cannot comment on what those choices are as he's not informed/has no say.

 • Saw this, too. Won't stop the majority of the community from leaping on anyone that makes a statement counter to its assumption that Xur is RNG.

 • Deej was most likely commenting on the items he is able to sell, and not the items he sells. You know, or someone was just picking these.

 • On the vid I watched he was clearly talking specifically about the items Xur would be selling each coming Friday as he mentioned playfully threatening/bribing the individual for advance information about what Xur would have.

 • The chance that his stock isn't RNG is slim as -blam!-, who would actually choose to sell the same piece of armour for a month straight? That'd be them deliberately -blam!-ing with a class and putting them at a disadvantage. Also, did you even watch the video I posted?

 • Yes. I have been aware of what it addresses for months as it was made well known via Reddit very early after release. As I explained to someone else in this thread, it does not prove anything other than that Xur has a history of stock data in game. You are free to assume that this history was randomly generated, but it's mere existence isn't proof of that. As far as your statement regarding the chance of his stock being RNG, that is based on your feelings about how much sense it would make to you based on your knowledge (I'm also not sure if you mean that it's even slimmer than 0.07703%?). It does not involve factors that we cannot know or take into account; e.g., whether Bungie has a purpose for Xur that extends beyond simply being a merchant that sells exotics. In the interest of simplifying the matter I'll share exactly what it will take to convince me that Xur's stock is randomly generated: Some sort of quote or indication from Bungie that it is. Otherwise, all I'm left with is someone else's assumption.

 • So you're basically saying they picked his stock for funsies before the game was released, multiple weeks at that. In simplifying "the matter" you've turned this into a battle of faiths, as to why you'd even be commenting in this thread is beyond me when the only thing that would sway your opinion is Bungie/Deej stating they don't pick his weekly stock.

 • I'm not commenting to be persuaded, nor am I commenting to persuade anyone else. fnky143 made a claim and I popped in to corroborate it. What has occurred since has been you sharing your opinion about the facts (there is a history of stock; Deej's statements) that we do have, and me sharing mine. I'm ok with that kind of discussion in a public forum and I didn't assume that you wouldn't be as you engaged me. Now for a few additional, less relevant points: I never claimed or hinted that the stock was picked for funsies. I said that that we can only assume why this may have been done, if it was done. It could have been necessary for him to have a stock history, we don't know one way or the other. Unless Bungie shares the process behind Xur's selections, we cannot know. My point was that, contrary to the popular assumption, the mere existence of a history is not proof that it was randomly generated. The only way for that conclusion to even make sense is if one also assumes that Bungie wouldn't want to take the time necessary to create that stock manually.....which is based on another assumption regarding how much time creating the stock would take. All I'm doing is rejecting other people's assumptions because I don't find sufficient evidence for them. No one in any position to make the claim that it is RNG has done so - all we have as a shared hill of assumptions at the top of which some sit and shout down on anyone that dares to disagree with them.
