Frankly, what this system, or rather, absence of a system has done, is to allow me to escape the whining, pubescent teens and tweens, which I loathe more than anything in gaming.
While it appeared as an inefficient and cumbersome task, at first, I soon found the benefits it provided. First and foremost, was the aforementioned issue. Secondly, I found players who were more likely to act as a team, and brainstorm as to our best odds of managing the task at hand. This is paramount to success.. In a Nightfall or Weekly strike, and obviously in the raid.
Through this abscence of a system, I have gamed with a lot of cool people and have established a set group of us who can efficiently complete the raid. We help eachother on each of our characters- in all weekly events. Activities that once took several hours, are now handled in a couple dozen minutes (some less, some more).
The point being here, this allows the player to decide who they're gaming with. Think, do you really want some controlled numeric system to dictate to you who you're matched up with? Do you not care about the level of maturity of those whom you're being matchmade with? What about their character level, or their actual skill level?
So, rather than pissing and moaning about it, try it. It takes maybe 5-10 minutes and can ultimately save you loads of time.
