Us casuals will be leaving soon, You're welcome

With no signs of Raid matchmaking, the causal gamer such as myself will be leaving soon. (I know this makes many of you happy) You see, I am not a great player by any means, and while I'm not mad about leaving destiny, I won't be buying the DLC. I just got the "charity" boots and gloves from IB. With an exotic chest piece, I have only a helmet to get to 30.... I will not be able to raid without matchmaking, so I wont be getting the raid helmet....If I cant get to 30, why get the DLC Matchmaking was an oversight, no matter what you say. So its cool, destiny was fun for the most part...but I think in the next 2-3 weeks it will be over and I'll go back to Madden Just an insight from a more casual fan to Bungie... I know your game is a monetary success, but you are leaving some money on the table with some of us.

  • Get an exotic helmet. Use a raid chest piece. There's a forum to go LFG in.

  • I had zero people on my friends list before this game. I now have over 4 full pages. Maybe you are doing something wrong. I found a clan within the first week playing this game, got to 27 and they allowed me to join. Now I run my own clan that just beat hard mode with zero wipes in 45 minutes. Maybe you should learn to just handle some stuff for yourself and network a little bit. You do NOT want to run the raid with matchmaking I can promise you that. Since I hit 30 I help alot of randoms and teach them the raid. WIthout a strong leader showing people who don't know what they are doing how to do the raid its going to be a nightmare, and you wont get anything.

matchmaking might make some people happy but I know I would still just use http://www.destinylfg.com/ its accessible via computer or phone or tablet or anything that has internetz ^^ and takes no time at all to find a group. http://www.destinylfg.com/ is essentially matchmaking on your phone
use http://www.destinylfg.com/ m8
• A lot of rebuttal to adding matchmaking to the raid requires that you have no faith in the playerbase. The game is built in the foundation of sharing epic experiences with other players, do long as you don't talk to each other and can't play with each other. The built in fireteam system is clunky, and you can only do it simply by using the console systems for partying up. I think Bungie really dropped the ball on actually playing with other guardians. And for the raid, the assumption of players is they will only stay if the team never wipes, and completes the entire raid in less than an hour. 2 players won't have mics, 2 will be afk, and one will immediately rage quit on the first death. This is assuming the worst of players, and when you make your decisions on how the game plays based on that, you are cowardly and unwilling to take the necessary step to make the game all it can be. It will be difficult for players, sure, but there are plenty of things already for the more casual players to do. Those that want a challenge should be able to find it in the game. Here's an interesting solution to the problem of 'terrible' players getting into the raid matchmaking. Only allow players that have completed the nightfall and level 28 heroic strike for the week to enter the playlist. There are any number of interesting ways to make it work, but only truly one reason you think it won't and that reason is garbage. Assuming that the people that would use raid matchmaking are anything but eager too take on the endgame content is almost entirely wrong, and the outlier examples aren't substantial enough to convince me otherwise.

The casuals were gone a long time ago. You are crossing into the realm of addicted Destiny players, such as myself. All of my "casual" gamer friends had stopped joining my games and partying with me by lvl 28 or under...many for which still have at least one blue armor piece and an exotic, combined with a legendary here and there. Now, most of my friends can be found playing Halo, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed, Dragon Age, or back to playing Diablo...you name it...and neither seem to exhibit the slightest interest and nor are they concerned about coming back. I do have one friend/ co-worker that states he will check back when the expansion comes out, but I know those are just empty words , as he'll have suffered from what everyone else does; you come back to check out the content update, find there is an overwhelming amount to catch up on and just how outdated you are, then you drop in another game and play that instead. It will happen to me, too. It happens to all of us, but some of us break sooner than others. I'm finally finding it hard to continue on with weekly raids, hoping for that Mythoclast to drop that I have helped so many others attain, thrice-over...whether, I solo-cheesed Atheon for groups while they hid, telling them when to wipe, or we beat it legit. I'm convinced it will drop, but it may be another 12 weeks...who knows. In fact, I finally did decided to get in on a group just before reset last night, but they had too many level 29's and so, we couldn't do the Atheon bit, nobody wanted to grab the relic. If I didn't get selected for teleport, nobody would grab it and they would die of succumbing to the Oracle...or get taken out before that happens, and so, there goes two weeks of no Raid boss reward for hard mode...the week prior, I didn't even give raiding a thought and it all leaves me feeling even less like wanting to do it this week. Bungie's reason for not including matchmaking are just reasons...this is no slap in the face to Bungie, but it is clear why there isn't MM for raids/ weeklies. They are doing it to make it a less abused portion of their game, by not making it as accessible. Also, to help increase rarity for certain items, some of which are exotics that only drop in the raids and will likely never be sold by Xur. They know that if they set you up with a team, you'll eventually be on your way to success and everyone will have a Clast and full raid gear. I've played many MMO's and even SWTOR has matchmaking raids...and even if it didn't, you have the ability to send global chat shout-outs and you can have a team even faster than matchmaking; "LFG for raid" one might post, and soon the responses come in; "level 55 healer! I'm in..." and "I can tank!" etc. Done! Matchmaking raids are only tough in the beginning, same as SWTOR...because people don't know what to do and there's always the new guy that doesn't know their role or the positioning they should be in, but they soon learn(like, very quickly), or they get the boot, or you can re-matchmake. It's not the end of the world. You eventually get in with great groups and meet new people to add to your list and before you know it, you're entering your groups into matchmaking, as opposed to just you...it's socializing and networking to it's finest degree, but once everyone knows what to do, you will clear matchmaking raid, after matchmaking raid. It becomes a literal muscle memory situation, and you're banking loot in under 40 minutes, back-to-back and that's what they don't want you to do in this game. It's also why there is a weekly reward cap.

              • Finding a group is not difficult. Just add yourself to like 4 of the top groups. Open the app on your phone if your looking to join and you will see tons of people looking for players. Send them a message and receive an invite. It is very simple to find a group, granted you might get stuck with a bad one but then again it would be no different from matchmaking.

              • No to raid matchmaking Ok I'll address it here instead of one by one. Raid matchmaking is not a great idea. Yes it would be fast, but no one person would be designated as fire team leader. So with that like strikes no fire team leader no way to kick the people that are not going to participate with their hopes of being carried through for stuff they didn't work for. Even if they only get materials. So lets say you get a full team you get just past the first templar checkpoint and someone leaves how does the matchmaking system determine who to put in as a replacement. How long will the system take to find you a replacement or do you back out and restart from the begining. So if you've been there an hour and have to start over you've wasted at least that hour. Let's talk mics how many will actually have one even though every future Gen system comes with one. How many will actually use them. How many whiny kids could you stand for a minimum of 40 mins, standard time for any good raid team. How happy would you be as a lvl 28 to be put in party of 24 to 26 with everyone with a blue weapon at best. The amount of frustration and rage quitting that will follow would be incredibly high. You have many options for raid team making. Destinylfg, clans left and right on bungie forums, random invites to tower player or players in the wild. I personally joined my clan of 113 ppl for raid purposes only after a few weeks of trial groups we made a static group and run 45 min raids twice a week. I run all my nightfalls, heroics and dailies with these 5 ppl we share similar schedules, jobs with wives and kids.

                    • Why do you need to be level 30 for the DLC? Level 20 should be plenty to complete all missions and strikes, and level 28 or 29 is probably enough to even run the new raid if you get the opportunity. The DLC has new armor that will get you to lvl 32 and so most likely also has armor to get you to lvl 30. You probably won't get very far if you have raid matchmaking with people who have never been through it before. I'm all for raid matchmaking, but the reality is that you need at least 1 vet that can explain how the raid works and everyone needs to follow instructions or do what they are told. Raids are not like anything else in the game - the entire team will automatically die (wipe) if one person does something that they shouldn't (i.e. not kill an oracle, get seen by a gorgon, drop the relic, etc.). The only way to know what you should or shouldn't do is to have a raid guide or to have been through it before, or at the very least understand all of the mechanics. You could be doing everything perfect and then just drop over dead because of one person - this happens even in experienced groups.
