• How better? Power efficiency? Thinness? Sure, I'll give you those. Producing the darkest black? I'll trade the improved picture quality over a cooler running, cheaper, slimmer TV. Modern LCDs are really great, but you can't beat a plasma TV in my opinion. The technology just doesn't work for a 4k, reasonable TV, where the layers of LCD work much easier. If only OLEDs would continue to get cheaper! Then we can all bask in the truly great TV experience...until the next best thing comes out! The only thing less productive than a console argument is a LCD versus Plasma. People get defensive of their $1,000+ purchases more so than their $400+ gaming purchases..

 • From what I've read OLEDs have the same level of burn-in and image retention problems as Plasmas. So kind of a wash IMHO. Image quality IS breath taking on plasmas but they are not very practical for most gamers (ones who play more than 1.5hrs a day) due to the issues above. And what I've read so far it looks like OLED will be the same. I was pumped for them too, till I came across that bit of info.

 • Depends on what model you have and what you are using it for plus your equipment. So not true really. I would put 1 in my living room if I didn't already have a 3d 70

 • Plasma has THE best picture quality. There is no debate. Do the research. LEDs have come a long way and OLEDs are as good and surpassing Plasma, but its fact that Plasma have better picture quality available for mass consumption.

 • I was trying to qualify my statement with "available for mass consumption". I also said "as good and surpassing". Most people cannot afford the newest technology OLED / 4K, so plasmas do have the best picture quality without spending insane amounts of money... currently. But that is changing quickly. Bottom line is, someone who says "Plasma Sucks" (which is what I was replying to) does not know what they are talking about. People see the new technology and automatically think its "better". Better can mean different advantages... size, weight, other features / options. But for me the number 1 is picture quality and up until only recently, Plasma has come out on top. There's also little known secret that high-end Tube TVs have (or more appropriately... had) THE best picture quality because of their greater color fidelity, contrast, and wider viewing angle. BUT because it becomes unrealistic to manufacture them over 40 inches due to their size, the other technologies have surpassed it and CRTs have gone the way of the dinosaur. NOT because they have "better" picture, but because of all the other "stuff" (mainly size). If you sell TVs then you probably already know what I'm talking about, but a lot of people do not... as evidenced by many of the replies here.

 • BS, man I can see mine at any angle with no picture degradation And have true black and so on. Images still burn in on LED/LCD tv. In a plasma its usually a static image that has been in place for 30 minutes, on an LED/LCD its 1 hour. Always use the Orbiter function on your tv. P.S. I design home theaters for a living.

 • Agreed, I have an LED, but the one thing that plasma has over them is that the blacks are a crisper black. Where as ours is almost more of a super dark grey. Just an observation I've noticed when looking at TV's at stores.

 • Your LED can still get permanent burn-in, if this issue isn't fixed.
