  • Don't know if you saw the article, as they were exploring what was in the patch. There is an absolutely massive amount of things in it, though. New weapons, gear, ships, bounty types, strike information, map information, etc. http://destinydb.com/news/posts/76-massive-destiny-patch-tons-of-new-info You know? All that content that is already on disk that Bungie is selling people unlock codes for? /sarcasm :-)

  • I read the article (not the reddit one, I'm at school.) Started looking around in the materials section to check out the new spinmetal icons and saw the new materials. Looks like there's going to be a bunch of new content coming soon. And whether or not that was sarcasm, all that stuff on the disk is nowhere near complete. But that's an argument for a later time...

  • Oh, I am fully aware. Have spent more time trying to explain that fact to people than most sane people should. No argument to be had with me, there. :-) At the end of the day, this is an absolutely massive patch - whether it is looking at what was delivered for the upcoming DLC, from a functional, or aesthetic point of view.

  • Finally, someone who understands. I'm game design, so I always spot those little flaws that no one does. I can also tell that the "locked" content is nowhere near being done, simply a placeholder. The "locked" boss ("super captain" in kings watch) is clearly not even named, and the area doesn't even have an entrance, enemy AI is not complete, I could go on allll day. And yet people still bash bungie and complain about "this stupid, broken game" and yet they keep playing all day!! /Rant

  • Fully understand how you feel. I used to do hobby-based game development when I was younger - and even turned down a position with a development shop about twelve years ago, because the salary was just not competitive with the sector I was working in. However, after twenty-ish years working in the software industry, I no longer do any hobby-based development, at all. It really is entertaining to watch the number of people who think that there is only one role that everyone in a shop has, and how all issues can be turned around in a week. People do not realize that something that seems trivial can actually entail a massive effort to fix.

  • Exactly what I'm trying to tell these scrubs! AAA Game development takes tons of very talented people, each working on a very specific aspect of the game. I appreciate your comments as well as your thoughts. Nice to know there are a few intelligent people in this community...

  • Always a pleasure to virtually meet someone in the software world. Plus, folks named Joe are just statistically awesome people - although there may be a bit of polling bias there. ;-) I used to spend a good amount of time debunking a lot of the theories on here, but a lot of that has fallen to the wayside. Am sure that I've been muted by many (as well as having muted plenty, myself). In the end, though, it is the things like the contents of the patch that speak the most loudly. There is absolutely no disputing the human effort it took to build, coordinate, and release that amount of effort. At the end of the day, game development is not really that different from any other sector of software development. They all have more in common with them, than not. The one thing that you can never escape, regardless of the type of product you are delivering, is that you will almost certainly have an end user base that is largely oblivious to how the process of putting these things in front of them actually work.

  • Sorry, but am on PS4. Soon to also be on XB1, too. My real-life friends are pretty evenly split between the consoles, so I'll be buying Destiny again, just so I can join them, too. My PS3 is still hooked up, but no Destiny. Have not had the heart to box it up yet, because I am not enjoying the fact that PS Now is solely rental-based now. Had been using it since the Alpha, because they were suggesting that you would be able to buy those games, and not just rent them. Was really hoping that the rumors of putting in a game from an older console, and getting access to it through PS Now would have panned out. That would have been the "killer app", in my opinion. Clan Idea - "Average Joes". Only pre-requisite is in the name. Could imagine that the fireteam leader would suffer from a nervous breakdown, though, when calling audibles. Will still throw you a friend request, in hopes that they eventually open up cross-generational play, or that you end up getting a PS4. :-)

  • Yeah I don't have the cash right now to buy a new console. The PS Now is a great idea, but I don't think sony will do much with it. I really like the whole thing where you can play a game that your friend is playing even if you don't have it. And oh god that clan would be living hell.... but hey if I can raid with only two other people in my team having mics, I could probably do that.
