Yeah. Faber hypothesized that the Star Roads were coming from Path Kethona, so when he needed to fire Omega Halo to create an escape route, he aimed it at Path Kethona.

Really,I just thought he fired omega halo to clear the star roads and flood infested ships near the greater ark and to give time to the Iso-Didact and the Librarian

Yeah, he also aimed it at Path Kethona, and Greg Bear elaborated on his website when he was asked about it.
