They offer exclusive items or deals for something you really want, in this case exclusive content for Destiny. That's one reason I got a PS4, but not the main reason. Not everyone will succumb to this tactic, as it sounds like you're a dedicated XB1 player. Either way, these companies will never stop making exclusives on games for one system over the other. This method has been proven to work. If it makes them money, they'll keep doing it. The only way I know to counter this is to own both systems and then buy the games for the one system that gets the exclusive content.
